Chile v Australia World Cup 2014, 13th June Betting Preview
It should be exciting to see what South Americans Chile can get up to in this one. If they get off to a confident start here, they could really challenge Spain and Holland for a place in the knockout stages. You won’t see many more creatively attacking sides than Chile, and this is a great opportunity to get maximum points on the board.

Chile v Australia Betting Tips
The South Americans are heavy favourites to land a win here against the Group B outsiders. This is a match where Chile could get some good confidence and momentum behind them. They are a decent side and have more than enough in their tank to push for the knockout stage. They took wins over Egypt and Northern Ireland before the World Cup and they have only lost three  matches since the start of 2013 and two of those were against Germany and Brazil. In 2014, they have posted three wins and a loss (defeat against the Germans) and England fans will remember them from last November when they took an enterprising 2-0 win at Wembley.

Eduardo Vargas is in a good bit of goalscoring form and is trading at 6/5 in the anytime goalscorer market, with Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez at even money. Yes, they have quality like that and look for Juventus man Arturo Vidal to shine in the middle of the park, although he is facing a battle to be fit for their opener after knee surgery. You can heap praise on Chile for their positive  brand of football under Jorge Sampaoli, but the same can’t be said of their defence. They conceded a hefty 25 goals during World Cup qualification, from sixteen games, the joint-worst defence of the five nations which came through the CONMEBOL qualification. They won’t care about that, and they should put Australia to the sword.

Tough group draw for Australia, who haven’t exactly been warming up with any great aplomb. The Socceroos haven’t posted a win in their three matches played in 2014, losing against Ecuador and Croatia, while taking a draw against South Africa. They have slipped down the World Rankings to 62 in the world. It is really hard to see Australia contributing anything to this group at all, and veteran Tim Cahill at 3/1 looks their best route to goal, which is a long shot. They aren’t likely to threaten the Chilean defence too much in this one, and could swing punters towards backing Chile to win to nil at a price of 6/5 which looks good value.

Chile v Australia Head To Head
Just the four matches have been played between these two before. One of them was a draw at the 1974 World Cup, but in the three friendly matches since, Chile have won them all and conceded just the one goal all told against Australia.

Chile v Australia Predictions
This should be a routine win for Chile here without much doubt. Australia will dig in for as long as they can, but Chile’s running lines and pace should open them. Back a solid Chile win in this one in the outright market. They are highly likely to come out of the game with a clean sheet in tow too.
