Can anyone stop Mighty Mike at the Masters?

Darts Betting

The next big darts action coming up on the 2017 calendar is the Darts Masters 2017 Betting. This tournament from the Arena:MK starts on January 27th and this is a quick fire event which pulls into its conclusion on the 29th. So as you would expect there is only a small field turning up for this one and only the top 16 players in the PDC Order of Merit get a place at the Unibet Masters. This is only the fifth edition of the non-ranking tournament and worryingly for the rest of the field, it is Michael van Gerwen who is heading to Milton Keynes as favourite.

After recently claiming the World Championship, the big Dutchman is going to be pretty hard to knock off his perch as the reigning Masters champion. Mighty Mike’s trading at a price of 8/13 with Coral in Darts Masters 2017 Betting. He is going to take some stopping and not even his old rival Phil Taylor is second favourite in the market, as The Power is going off at a pretty big price of 16/1 to take the crown. It leaves Gary Andersen at 5/1 as potentially the strongest challenger to MVG’s reign in MK, but even he was destroyed by Van Gerwen in the final of the World Championships recently.

Can anyone really mount a big challenge to Michael van Gerwen? That is pretty much the only question on the minds of punters going into this one. It is hard to see just who that player is going to be and no-one in his side of the draw is probably going to get a lot of interest from punters in his one. Four matches is all it takes to win the Darts Masters. Michael van Gerwen has proven that he is more than capable as he goes in search of his third title on the bounce in the event.

Darts Masters 2017 Betting Predictions

There is only likely going to be one winner in this and that is Van Gerwen. But then he is such short value that he isn’t going to have a lot of appeal for punters. He has the easiest opener he can get and neither Adrian Lewis or James Wade really look on top of their game enough to raise much of a challenge to him in his half of the draw, so it should be plain sailing all the way through to the showcase match for the Dutchman. So your best bet is in going to looking at the Coral To Reach Final Market.

This obviously is producing shorter odds than if it were a bigger field in attendance, but you can still find some value around. The bottom half of the draw is fascinating because of Anderson, Taylor, Wright and Chisnall all in the mix there. No-one has an easy draw ahead of them and that makes this a great section to go and pull out a To Reach Final selection with. But who to go for? We are going to go against the grain and plump for Dave Chisnall. He has been to the final of the Masters once before and he carried good form to the quarter finals of the World Championship recently.

He’s a big price because he has Van Barneveld and Anderson in his path in his quarter and he is still looking for his first PDC Premier Event title, but is capable of producing. While MVG is likely to walk away with this one, look for a run from the Englishman nevertheless.
