There is only likely going to be one winner in this and that is Van Gerwen. But then he is such short value that he isn’t going to have a lot of appeal for punters. He has the easiest opener he can get and neither Adrian Lewis or James Wade really look on top of their game enough to raise much of a challenge to him in his half of the draw, so it should be plain sailing all the way through to the showcase match for the Dutchman. This obviously is producing shorter odds than if it were a bigger field in attendance, but you can still find some value around. The bottom half of the draw is fascinating because of Anderson, Taylor, Wright and Chisnall all in the mix there. No-one has an easy draw ahead of them and that makes this a great section to go and pull out a To Reach Final selection with. But who to go for? We are going to go against the grain and plump for Dave Chisnall. He has been to the final of the Masters once before and he carried good form to the quarter finals of the World Championship recently.
He’s a big price because he has Van Barneveld and Anderson in his path in his quarter and he is still looking for his first PDC Premier Event title, but is capable of producing. While MVG is likely to walk away with this one, look for a run from the Englishman nevertheless.
