Can Vazirabad be victorious again in the Dubai Gold Cup?

Godolphin’s famous all-blue colours will be in evidence in all but one of the eight races in this Saturday’s World Cup meeting at Meydan. Ironically, the one race in which the home team are not represented is the opening Godolphin Mile. But keeping the majority of yet another record-breaking amount of prize money in the Emirates is going to be a tough task for Sheikh Mohammed’s operation with the world’s best thoroughbreds again on show.

There is almost £5million up for grabs in the Dubai World Cup itself but you are not going to get very good odds on ARROGATE taking the lion’s share of the purse back to the Unites States.

Bob Baffert’s grey is the highest-rated Flat horse in the world following brilliant displays in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita and the inaugural Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream in January. You can get 4/11 with Skybet but that’s not going to make you rich enough to buy your own oil well unless you’ve got some serious cash to begin with.

Skybet give all their new customers a £10 free bet. To get it, simply register with Skybet . No deposit needed!
Register for a new account via a link here to the Skybet site. This offer can be redeemed in any of the website’s sports market.

There is also a Free Bet Club at Skybet!
All customers get a £5 free bet every week, all you have to do is place £25 within one week on any sport, any market with odds of evens or above before midnight Sunday. Your £5 free bet will be credited by 7pm Monday to use on any sport. If you miss a week you’re out! To get back in to the Club you have to spend a total of £40.

Skybet are also best odds for Vazirabad (9/4) in the Dubai Gold Cup.

Dubai Gold Cup Current Best Odds

Vazirabad (9/4), Beautiful Romance and Heartbreak City (7/1), Big Orange (8/1), Quest for More (9/1), Sheikhzayedroad (10/1), Wall Of Fire (20/1), Kingfisher and Trip To Paris (25/1), Rembrandt Van Rijn (50/1), Famous Kid (66/1), Basateen, Quechua and Zamaam (100/1)

Alain De Royer-Dupre’s stayer was beaten by Beautiful Romance in his prep race but it would not be wise to attach too much importance to that. The French raider won the Gold Cup last year, beating Big Orange, and it’s all systems go again for the grey this weekend – he’ll have no excuses from stall three.

LANCASTER BOMBER is an interesting runner for Aidan O’Brien in the UAE Derby at a best 9/1 on betfair and the UK have high hopes for several on the Turf course in Meydan this weekend.

Henry Candy’s LIMATO might be the one to beat in the Al Quoz Sprint at around the 5/2 mark and I like the look of William Haggas’ MUTAKAYYEF in the Dubai Turf. He’s a stand-out 11/2 on betfair and with Skybet for the 1m1f Group 1 contest.  It is that extra furlong that will be worrying supporters of Ribchester in this while likely favourite drops down in distance and has been found wanting on each occasion he’s raced at the highest level before.

After a pipe-opener behind Prize Money, POSTPONED may have the tough Highland Reel to beat if he is to win the Dubai Sheema Classic for a second year running. But Roger Varian’s entire did just that in last August’s Juddmonte International at York and he’s even better over this Saturday’s longer distance – he’s still available at 15/8 and bookmakers are unlikely to be that generous close to off time.
