England v India Twenty20 Cricket Betting Odds and Preview

England look to finish year on a high in T20 flourish

Cricket Betting

There is still more great England v India cricket betting to come, even though the Test series has drawn to a close. It was a tremendous series performance from England’s cricketers, as they defeated India on their home soil, holding on for a draw in the fourth and final test to take a 2-1 victory. England captain Alastair Cook, who guided England to their first win in India for 27 years, likened the victory to winning the Ashes down under in 2010/11. The Test series had started so badly for the tourists when they were thrashed by nine wickets in the opening match. But the doubts were quickly dispelled after a chance in a personnel and tactics, which saw England convincingly sweep the following two matches, with controlled bowling and flourishes of class batting, especially from Cook. So England look to have maintained their huge potential, but now the pace of the game will change as England head into a two match Twenty20 series against the Indians.

This is the last action for the international year for England, who return to India at the start of January to prepare for five match ODI series. But for now, the year will finish with two day/night Twenty20 matches. The two sides are evenly matched in the ICC Twenty20 Championship rankings, India standing third and England fourth. The two sides have met five times before in Twenty20 matches, with England taking three wins to India’s two. Just once before have they met in India though and that was a match which was won by the tourists back in October of 2011. The last time they came together was in September of 2012 when they squared up in Colombo, Sri Lanka and posted a measly total of 80 all out as they chased a total of 171. That snapped a three match winning streak for England’s Twenty20 side against India.

England’s Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the match as he will head back to the UK along with Steve Finn. Broad has a heel problem and Finn a strained disc in his back. That will hand the captaincy to Eoin Morgan. England’s Twenty20 Cricket results have been patchy at best, winning just two of their last six. Their last match was against Sri Lanka back in october, which produced a win, but that came on the back of defeats against West Indies and New Zealand at the T20 World Cup, which saw them bundled out at the Super Eight stage. So nothing really to split the two sides heading into this explosive series, except confidence. No doubt India will be wanting to hit back with a something positive in front of their home support to round off the year with. That will make them somewhat dangerous.
