England saw Ireland move to the top of the Six Nations table on Saturday after taking a win against France so the pressure is back on the Red Rose to deliver. This however, is England’s easiest game of the championship as they take on Italy who have lost their two openers. England have so far edged narrow and tense wins over both France and Wales but this is a chance for them to settle, get some confident fluency back into their game and of course, run up the tries. England have to keep building as they go on to face Scotland and then round off the tournament with a tough, tough match in Ireland which is likely to be a title decider. If England win on Sunday then it will be a record 17th consecutive victory for them as a nation. Ben Te’o comes in for his first ever start in the centre while the pace of Jonny May comes back on to the right wing and he is a 1/3 joint favourite with Elliot Daly in the anytime try scorer market at Coral. Mako Vunipola will be on the bench as he comes back from his knee injury which has kept him out of this season’s competition.
So this should be a fairly routine victory for England at Twickenham and it will put them just one game away from equalizing the world record of 18 straight wins set by New Zealand. Italy are really not up to scratch at the moment as we have seen in recent games against Tonga and then Wales and Ireland in this season’s Six Nations. The Italians have battled decently enough in the first half of their Six Nations matches this season but have been blown away in the second half of both. Ireland danced around them a fortnight ago like they weren’t even on the pitch, so England can fill their boots in this one.
