England v Lithuania Betting Preview – World Cup 2018 Qualifiers 26th March – Kick off 5pm

This should be a routine home game at Wembley for England as they face Lithuania. England can really march on towards Russia 2018 with maximum points collected from this one. They have already won their two home games in qualifying so far and they have not conceded a goal in their quest to make next summer’s final yet. Lithuania were easily brushed aside by the Three Lions when the two met in Euro 2016 qualifying, will this one go the same way as England look forward under Gareth Southgate?

England v Lithuania Betting Tips

Well, England will be looking to consolidate or even strengthen their lead at the top of Group F in World cup 2018 qualifying on the weekend. They have a two-point cushion going into the weekend over Slovenia and the Three Lions are comfortable, as expected. They have only scored the six goals in their four games so far, which has been a little disappointing in terms of output. At home so far in the group, England have beaten Scotland 3-0 and Malta 2-0 so are probably going to be at ease in this one too. England to win to nil at Paddy Power returns a price of 1/2. An England 2-0 and England 3-0 correct score options in the game are both up at a price of 9/2 and are value with England having yet to concede a single goal in qualification. They aren’t likely to be under too much pressure at the back. England though have been level at the break in each of their four qualification games so far, so a Draw/England half time/full-time bet at Paddy Power looks tempting at 11/4. Jamie Vardy is 5/6 outright favourite in the anytime goalscorer market with Jermain Defoe at 10/11 and Marcus Rashford at even money.

It would be a major shock if England slipped to a defeat in this one as they have managed to go 33 matches now in qualification for major international tournaments, unbeaten (W25 D8). So Lithuania faces a tough task to try and record a win in this one. The visitors have failed to win any of their last six competitive games away from home in a W2 L4 record. This will be just the third match between the two nations after they were paired together in Euro 2016 qualifying. England produced a 7-0 aggregate from those two games. Out on the road in World Cup 2018 qualifying, Lithuania have suffered a 4-0 loss at Slovakia and earned a 1-1 draw in Scotland on their travels. While they may offer some stubborn resistance early on, forcing England to show some patience and perhaps craft, they don’t have much to offer going forward. They lost 3-0 in midweek against the Czech Republic in a friendly. Under 2.5 goals at Paddy Power may be an option worth considering if you can see the visitors being determined to dig in and try and earn a precious point. They aren’t going to go better than that, though.

England v Lithuania Predictions

England home win: Lithuania are likely going to show up, park the bus and hope to take the sting out of England and get a draw. They aren’t even likely to do that though in the end. England have enough to take down the visitors and they should win this one to nil. It may be tempting to have a punt on that Draw/England Half Time/Full Time option, though.
