The stage is set for Saint-Denis on Sunday, July 10th for Portugal v France Euro 2016 Final Betting. Maybe that is a lack in his own fitness a bit at the moment, or him not being able to lift what is at the core, a very average Portugal side. But as much as you can point fingers at Portugal for a lack of style, there is something about them which does need applauding and that is their resilience. They have survived and at times have only done just enough to survive as well. But they have survived and that’s the point and that has to speak to something. Maybe with an easier semi final battle and an extra day of rest compared to France’s progress from the final four, Portugal can take advantage of that?
But France are a team in form right now, they look confident of their own ability to get through whatever is thrown at them. They have had to rely on moments of individual brilliance here and there, but no more than Portugal have done. France just have more attacking options and have a far superior midfield corp to that of Portugal. France also boss the head to head against the Portuguese as well, not only having won the last ten in a row against them, but also taking an overall W18 D1 L5 record against them. That’s very strong.
They have scoring threats though Antoine Griezmann, Dimitri Payet and Olivier Giroud and they have averaged over two goals per game at Euro 2016. They have survived the different test which have been thrown at them during the Championships and that versatility is likely to serve them well against a Portugal side who will likely set up to contain them. France have won the European Championship twice before in their history, converting on both occasions that they have gotten there, including on home soil in 1984. As for Portugal, they missed their one previous shot at success when they went to the final of Euro 2004 on home soil and lost against Greece. With just the two goals scored in their last six games against France, the Portuguese may need a tremendously special effort from Ronaldo to get close to France, but ultimately they may just come up short regardless.
