Euro PGA Johnnie Walker Championship Betting Info
While most of the golf betting focus will be on The Barclays, the first of the FedExCup play off tournaments, there is some Euro PGA golf betting to have a look at as well. This is the Johnnie Walker Championship which is held at the historic Gleneagles course up in Scotland. There is importance on the this event beyond winning the title, because valuable points in the place to secure an automatic Ryder Cup spot will be on the line.

Euro PGA Johnnie Walker Championship Betting Defending Champion
Thomas Bjorn took the Johnnie Walker title last season, coming through a mammoth five man play-off. He is back to defend his title this season. Sitting 23rd on the European Tour, his purple patch of the season, seems to be over. Usually a pretty solid performer though and this is not a particularly difficult field to conquer. He landed a 48th at the US PGA championship and has only had two rounds under seventy in his last 16 rounds of golf. Nothing too much wrong with his game apart from finishing chances. Going as defending champion may well give him a boost of confidence to step up a gear which he has just been missing lately. Bjorn is trading at 28/1 with online bookmaker Bet365 as favourite.

Euro PGA Johnnie Walker Championship Betting Favourite and Contenders
Italy’s Francesco Molinari goes as favourite in the Euro PGA betting this week. He has a win under his belt for the season and is standing 6th in the Race to Dubai. Was pretty hot through July, but has just slipped off his gear recently. Still, he was good enough for a 40th at the WGC Bridgestone and then a 54 at the US PGA Championship. No reason why he can’t be near the top of the pecking order this week if he starts off strongly. His brother Edoardo won this event a couple of years ago incidentally. Francesco Molinari is trading at a price of 10/1 with online bookmaker Bet365.

Scotsman Paul Lawrie is going to be well backed this week and has pretty similar form to Francesco Molinari. Sitting twelfth on the European Tour and has churned out some pretty decent results this season. He looked ready to burst through for a win back in May but it just never quite happened for him. So he hasn’t been able to follow up on his win at the Qatar Masters back in February. However, he is a good fit for the course, very good and he has already qualified for the Ryder Cup team. Not going to a problem for motivation in Scotland and has a third pace finish at Gleneagles, coming back in 2009. He has also won in Scotland twice before.

Nicolas Colsearts should be a man on a mission and if he handles the pressures well in Scotland this week, he should perform. He has a lot at stake. If he wins or finishes second, then he will nudge Germany’s Martin Kaymer out of the automatic selection spot for the Ryder Cup. That will be a tremendous achievement and is should motivate the Belgian this week at Gleneagles. Of course, because he is in a position to do that shows what a steady game he has. Hasn’t managed to get a win this term, but has eight top ten finishes this season. Didn’t fit the conditions at the US PGA where he missed the cut, but should be stronger this week.

Simon Dyson has everything in place really to mount a challenge in Scotland last week. Dyson didn’t perform at the US PGA Championship either, but like Lawire and Colsearts, it wasn’t a track for him. However, he has been pretty solid again this season has the Englishman. Take away his US PGA Championship result and a missed cut at the Alstom Open de France and Dyson is running hot. Deserves a win this season and has gotten better the longer the season has worn on.
