European PGA Tour Malaysian Open Golf Betting Info

It is off to the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club this week after all the excitement of the US Masters. We tone it down a little bit in terms of the overall challenge and quality of field, but there is still a great weekend of golf ahead on the cards. This is the 51st edition of the Maybank Malaysian Open and as well as five Major winners heading there, the defending Champion Matteo Manassero is back as well. There is a lot of prestige about the golf club and tournament here and it is a nice, challenging course which can be attacked and low scores posted.

European PGA Tour Malaysian Open Golf Betting Defending Champion

Matteo Manassero, the young Italian was on fire here last year and really lived up to his much hyped potential. He put in some very solid rounds of golf, but most impressive was his level of accuracy over the four days. He just maintained such a high level there, off the tee and with his irons, that he managed to take down a very strong, world class field. That was only Manassero’s second Tour title, but the Rookie of the Year. He should be in good standing for your golf betting this week, because Manassero landed a runner up at the Open de Andalucia Costa del Sol and then landed a top six at the Trophee Hassan II the following week. In decent enough form to have another crack at this. Is nicely priced at 14/1 with Bet365 to defend his title.

Well, we have a three way tie at the moment for faovurite in your golf betting here, with Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Martin Kaymer all in strong contention. That is a pretty strong trio to head the field, and of course Oosthuizen just lost out on the Masters on the weekend in a play-off against Bubba Watson. So he is in good form, but that will have been a emotional and mentally exhausting affair for him. So it will be a big test for him in Malaysia to come out and perform against. Charl Schwartzel, the man who gave up his Masters title, never really got going at Augusta last week and was a bit disappointing. The South African just hasn’t quite been on top of his game and with another poor four rounds last week, is far from his best. Germany’s Martin Kaymer was also pretty anonymous at Augusta as well, which was surprising because he has produced a pretty solid season on the European Tour. Has landed a couple of top tens this season and playing solidly enough. Oosthuizen and Kaymer really makes the strongest case out of the three front runners here in your golf betting.

Other Contenders

Manassero will be wanting to have another big say in this competitive field, and there are some other good names to watch out for. England’s Simon Dyson is a solid player who has really to push himself close to a title this season. He has been a great performer on the European PGA though and would expect him to come good sooner rather than later. The same can be said of big hitting Alvaro Quiros who has yet to hit top form but has massive potential. Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts have been having a very solid season, with a three top tens on the European Tour and he pushed hard to land a top three at the Sicilian Open at the start of April. Colsaerts is looking very solid in his all round game and should be up there. South Africa’s George Coetzee has been another of the solid performers, although we haven’t seen too much of him lately. He has a couple of top ten’s under his belt as well, and makes up part of a very evenly matched crop of players chasing the big guns in the field out in Kuala Lumpur this week.

Best Outside Bet

Going to ride the form factor for our outside bet here, and that is with Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen. He has landed two top five finishes in his last two European Tour outings, at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the Sicilian Open. He has put in some good consistent rounds of golf and it could be worth riding him at 28/1 with Bet365.
