Toffees to topple the Citizens on Merseyside

Everton

Everton v Manchester City Betting Preview – Premier League 15th January 1.30pm

This should be a pretty entertaining game from Goodison Park. Everton have been going much better since mid December and the goals have been flowing for them. So they will fancy their chances on home soil of getting some change out of the Citizens’ back line in this one. Manchester City have the chance to put some pressure on Liverpool who play Man Utd later in the day. Pep Guardiola’s men start the weekend down in fourth spot and they need to shake off some patchy away form to get themselves back in the title hunt. Can the Citizens pull it out of the bag or will Everton’s improved form frustrate them?

Everton v Manchester City Betting Tips

Everon are a much improved side at the moment and have gone W3 D1 L1 in their last five games played in the top flight. The Toffees have been good at home all season and where they have recorded a W5 D4 L1 return. Ronald Koeman’s men have won two of their last three home games in the top flight, getting the better of Arsenal and Southampton, arguably two of the better defences in the league. So with Everton having scored at least two goals in five of their last six Premier League games as well, it is reasonable to expect them to find away through City. Over 2.5 goals at Coral is a quote of 3/4 and looks a solid punt. Both teams to score on the game a well with the bookmaker is a quote of 4/6. You would be expecting goals in this one as you can’t rate either defence very highly. The Toffees don’t have form against City as they are winless in their last seven Premier League games against the Citizens in a D3 L4 record.

So Everton are trailing in the current head to head form. When these two met at the Etihad back in October, there was a 1-1 draw played out between the two of them, Everton riding their luck in the game. A 1-1 correct score to pop up again is a 7/1 shot with Coral. Three of Everton’s last five goals against the Citizens in the Premier League have been netted by Romelu Lukaku and since making his debut for Everton back in 2013, only Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane have scored more top flight goals than he has. Lukaku is a 7/5 anytime goalscorer option for this Sunday’s clash. Everton will be going without the influential midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who has made more tackles than any other player in the Premier League this season. He is with Senegal at AFCON 2017. Only city rivals Liverpool have beaten Everton at Goodison Park this season, so can the Toffees at least avoid defeat in this one against Man City who have lost as many Premier League games in their last seven (3) as they did in their previous 24?

City have reason to be confident having won two of their last three visits to Goodison Park. During that 1-1 draw with Everton at the Etihad in October, the Citizens missed two penalty kicks which would have obviously driven them to a comfortable win. That was a couple of points badly dropped. The Citizens have lost two of their last three away games in the Premier League this season, going down against Leicester and Liverpool. City’s overall away record this term is W7 D0 L3 in the top flight. They have netted at least two goals in eight of their ten road games this season, another indicator that there should be goals in this match up. Sergio Aguero is a 4/5 anytime goalscorer option here and he has scored 113 goals in 164 Premier League appearances for Manchester City. City’s defence is always going to be a concern to them, but can they out-punch the Toffees going forward? The way that City destroyed West Ham in the FA Cup last Friday is what everyone expects from City week-in, week-out. Can they perform like that at Goodison Park on the weekend?

Everton v Manchester City Predictions

There may be a case for Everton landing the maximum points in this one. They have Lukaku with scoring form against City and they have won games at Goodison Park against tougher defenses than what City will bring on Sunday. Everton have improved greatly and there may be some underdog value running on the home side snatching all three points in this one considering City have lost two of their last three on the road.
