Football Betting Prediction: Mid Table

Premier League Start: Blackburn 1, Everton 0

The Strengths: Manager David Moyes always seems to get the best out of a side which, on paper, often looks average. Moyes really got the best out of the club in a difficult season last year, and when they got over their terrible hump of major injuries, Everton were playing some great football. They beat Chelsea and Manchester United on their home turfs and not many other clubs can say that. Instead of spending big money on the transfer market, Everton have been a little more shrewd, desperate to keep together the pieces that Moyes has accumulated in the form of his main starting eleven. They have a young ace up their sleeve in the form of Jack Rodwell, who was being touted by the Big Three in the Premier League. Everton though managed to keep him bound to Goodison Park. Leighton Baines, who could be Ashley Cole’s successor in the England side, also remains at Goodison, and both young players are in good hands. In the middle they have their talismanic vital Goalscorer in Tim Cahill, and if Mikel Arteta stays fit, then their chances of perhaps sneaking into a European place come the end of the season will be enhanced. There is a nice blend of youth and experience at Everton, but all eyes will be on the amount of goals they will score. Will it be enough? After scoring heavily in the lower leagues of the English football tier, Jermaine Beckford, who impressed on Leeds’ FA Cup run last year, was picked up as a free agent. This will be his chance to shine on the big stage, and for a team that is not renowned for scoring hatfuls of goals or putting on creative displays of beautiful football, it could just be the perfect fit for Beckford to make his name.

The Weaknesses: The main weakness is not having enough strength in depth. Everton were ravaged through injury during the first half of last season, and it hurt them. The trouble with Everton, is that they never really do anything in terms of splashing out big money on high profile players. The cash injection does not appear to be there, but somehow Moyes turns that negative into a positive and picks up the right kind of players when he can. There is not enough of it in the squad though to mount any kind of challenge on the top six, and as good as Everton showed in patches last season, they are destined to remain just outside the fringes of the business end of the Premier League. David Moyes likes his organised side, and that means they are not always entertaining, and have to scrap for games when their negative approach gets them behind in games. There is nothing too inherently wrong with Everton, but they perhaps rely a little too much on defence without the firepower to back it up.

Everton Betting Home:
Goodison Park is always a great place to go and pick up some good bets when Everton are at home. With the Toffees you know you are going to get a very hard working side which will be organised. In front of their home fans they are probably a little easier to break down than when they shut up shop and go on the road. You would look at Everton on the Pools Coupon and automatically put down an X next to their name for a draw. That is the image which they give off and they are the perfect candidates for a Draw No Bet option at home. They won 58% of their home matches last year, or eleven out of their 19 matches and only lost two.

Everton Betting Away:
Again you primarily look for drawn matches when Everton go away from Goodison Park. That is because Moyes has built a great system of organisation which is tough to get the better of. It does happen of course, and you would lean towards them losing and drawing more than winning away from home, but they are a decent side. They lost seven away from home, but if they are looking to improve, expect more drawn matches from them away.

Everton Best Betting stat: Everton scored 60% of their goals in the second half of matches last year. They are not ones to break out early and so back them for betting options like last team to score, or look for Everton last goal scorers.
