The expectations of this massive club though, are probably a little higher in the sky than what reality will deliver to them. OK, Newcastle do have strengths to work with. They do have the experience up front of ex Bolton star Kevin Nolan, and the moustachioed Joey Barton in the middle of the park. Barton has pledged not to cut his moustache off until Newcastle win their first Premier League game this season. They have solid goalkeeping in Steve Harper as well to call upon, but on the whole the team may just have a hard time living with the best. If games could be won on support and optimism then Newcastle would be just fine.
