There is some great alternative golf betting available this week from Naples, Florida as The Franklin Templeton Shootout swings into action. This is a twelve team event, with teams of two shooting it out for glory in different formats, from modified alternate shot, better ball and a scramble in the final round. It should be a cracking weekend of golf and because of just twelve teams in attendance there is some genuine value around to take advantage of. The tournament is hosted by the great Greg Norman and this is the 24th annual shootout and the field includes some of the best in the world. But with this not being based on individual performances, you need to look at the quality of pairings and who thrives teamed up with another.

Dustin Johnson/Ian Poulter 3/1 at Paddy Power
This fantastic looking pairing were the 2010 champions. However, because of scheduling problems they couldn’t defend their title last year. However, they look the strongest pairing in the field this time around. You have Europe’s Ryder Cup hero Ian Poulter, who has been in great end of season personal form, teamed up with one of the best distance ball strikers in the game. Hard to look past this pairing, because Poulter was immense in Ryder Cup pairings and he landed the HSBC Champions recently. You throw in the qualify of Dustin Johnson, who has battled back impressively from injury this season and you have the front runners for The Franklin Templeton Shootout golf betting.

The defending champions are Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele (5/1). They crushed the opposition last season by three strokes. They just complemented each other so well last term, and while the lead will be taken by Bradley, Steele was so solid as a partner. Strength in the pairing and they won’t give up the title easily. The pairing of Davis Love III and Brandt Snedeker (8/1), an exciting combination of the 2012 US Ryder Cup captain and one of his picks. Snedeker was an in form man at the back end of the season, winning the FedExCup  with victory at the TOUR Championship. Could excite with the experience of Love III. World number 7 Jason Dunfner will look to make an impression with the experience of Vijay Singh (11/2). This is a rookie team, but the two know each other well as they are practice partners. The injection of power will come from Dufner and could power on well.

The best looking value as an outside bet is the young pairing of Bud Cauley and Rickie Fowler (11/2). This is the first time pairing at the Franklin Templeton Shootout. Cauley is a rising star in the game and has landed a crop of top ten finishes this season and not going to be short of confidence with the exciting Fowler by his side. Fowler took his first Tour title this season when he was on a superb hot streak in the middle of the year. These two will gun hard for things and although a rookie team, could blend well and challenge.
