Can Tiger Woods respond in Greenbrier Classic golf betting? Coming off the back of a great triumph at the AT&T National, Woods was dominating the golf betting prior to tee off at the event, as his wins keep attracting more and more hype, especially with The Open coming up. Both Woods and Phil Mickelson struggled on the opening day of the Greenbrier Classic, finishing one over par and leaving themselves with a lot of work to do. This is because clubhouse leader Vijay Singh fired in a -7 sunder par, but the biggest problem for Woods is that there is a strong crop of players just a shot or two back of the lead. So there is already a lot of ground to make up, but can Woods respond? Well after starting as outright favourite, Tiger Woods is now trading at 14/1 with online bookmaker SkyBet, which isn’t that bad. He may have three wins under his belt this season, but he looked a little bit off his game here. It was his work on greens which are pretty unfamiliar to him which really let him down. His putting was nowhere near as convincing as it was at Congressional. However, can he be written off yet? Not really, because the times he has won this year have all come following struggles at the start. So there could be more to come from him.

But the option of Webb Simpson, sitting just two shots off the lead is hard to overlook and the bookies recognise his threat in the Greenbrier Classic golf betting, as they have drawn him at 6/1 favourite. Simpson, so consistent last year has had his struggles this season, but has still got major things up his sleeve, as he showed in his first at the US Open. He landed a T29 at the Travelers in his last outing, but he looked in good shape, his game was flowing a lot better in the first round of the Greenbrier. This is the kind of man you can put out in front and he will hold his composure well enough to take the win. Hasn’t had the dynamic season which he did last year, but still a very strong option. So too Jonathan Byrd, who starts the second round just one shot back of the lead. Byrd hit a strong patch of form behind heading to the US Open, where he really didn’t quite live up to his game. He is still searching for his first win, but after a solid first round here, his confidence should be up. He has been in strong positions before this season, like at the Wells Fargo, where he crumbled a bit after a strong start.

Is there anyone else out in the field who could make a strong move? Well, Steve Stricker is poised after finishing one under par in the first round. He has the solid enough game to hold things together and start grinding his way into contention. Bill Haas is looking solid on two under par as well, and although the FedExCup champion has been struggling this season, he reached the play-off here last season and knows the course.
