Hamilton Hungary to close gap on Rosberg – F1 Betting Preview

Hamilton looking for fifth Hungarian triumph

Sports Betting

Lewis Hamilton will turn out at Hungary this weekend with a 14 point deficit to team mate Nico Rosberg in the F1 Drivers Championship. The two Mercedes drivers have pretty much had everything their own way this season. At Hockenheim last weekend, Germany’s Rosberg won his home race for the first time in his career, while Hamilton could only battle his way to third place on the podium. So it was a fantastic week for Rosberg, who watched Germany win the World Cup and got married as well.

So will it be Hamilton’s time in the spotlight again in Hungary? The British driver has won four times in Hungary during his career and back to back in the last two years at a track which he loves and which he excels at. Hamilton has not managed to land a Pole Position since back at Spain though, six races ago, and that could be crucial to his chances here. On all but one occasion that there has been a Mercedes 1-2 finish this season, it has been the one out of Rosberg and Hamilton who has started in front on the grid who has gone on to take the win.

So getting an advantage from Pole is crucial and Hamilton is trading as an 8/11 shot with Bet365 to land it, but it is Rosberg, with four Pole’s in the last five races, who is trending heavily in the race to the front of the grid, and is perhaps a more appealing 5/4 shot to lead the way in Hungary on the weekend.

But unlike Rosberg, Hamilton has big experience of winning in Hungary, including back to back victories there in the last two years. Rosberg failed to get on the podium last season, with Hamilton taking the chequered flag impressive in his Mercedes, and that victory was ran from Pole position as well.

Lewis Hamilton odds of 11/8 to win the Hungarian Grand Prix at Bet365 are going to be eaten up by punters. It is going to be worth looking for a Forecast as well for the two Mercedes drivers, but head over to the Without Mercedes market for some extra value in Hungary Grand Prix betting. The in-form man at the moment is Williams’ Valtteri Bottas who has been on the podium in each of the last three races, including back to back second places at the British and German Grands Prix. Bottas is 2/1 Without Mercedes market. The main challenger to him getting on the podium, excluding the Mercedes duo of course, is going to be Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, who is a 3/1 shot.
