Inter Milan v Tottenham Betting Preview
Spurs really have one foot in the quarter finals after a breathless first leg at White Hart Lane. Andre Villas-Boas masterminded a tremendous 3-0 win to take back to the San Siro, and bookmakers responded by making Spurs favourites to win the Europa League outright this season. Is the lead that they have enough of a margin to get through their trial back in Italy?

Inter Milan v Tottenham Recommended Bet:
Spurs really did a fantastic job at White Hart Lane against the strong Italians. Gareth Bale struck early in the match to set up the win and even though the game was wide open and played at a relentless pace, Tottenham stayed tight defensively. It wasn’t the greatest of Inter performances it has to be said, but take nothing away from Spurs, they are good team themselves. Memories will naturally come back of their last visit to the San Siro in the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League group stage. Spurs found themselves four goals down at half time on that occasion, before Gareth Bale sunk a brilliant second half hat trick. Have they done enough in the first leg? Tottenham’s record against Italian clubs stands at W4 D4 L2.

Out in Italy, Spurs have produced a W1 D2 L2 record and they are on a four match streak against Italian sides without conceding a goal. That has come through three 0-0 draws and the 3-0 first leg win over Inter last week in their last four matches against Italian sides. Spurs have not lost in five European matches either, and have drawn the last four in a row. Interestingly, in their three previous meetings against Inter Milan in Europe, Spurs have scored exactly three goals on each of those occasion. Gareth Bale, although he didn’t score in Tottenham’s 3-2 loss at Anfield on the weekend, has still scored 11 goals in his last 10 games in all competitions. Inter Milan have a strong home record against English sides at the San Siro. At home they hold a W8 D3 L2 record against sides from England and W12 D4 L11 overall. Inter are still one of three highest scoring sides left in the Europa League, having scored sixteen goals this term since the start of the group stage.

There has been an occasion before in Europe when a team has lost the first leg of a tie 3-0 and still progressed. That was Werder Bremen over Lyon in the UEFA Cup back in 1999. Inter Milan dropped the ball in Serie A on the weekend, losing at home to Bologna. They have recorded just two wins in their last eight matches in the Italian top flight, so not in top form. Their chances of winning their fourth UEFA Cup are hanging by a thin thread at the moment, and there is plenty to do. Not only do they have to press forward, they have to be wary of conceding an away goal which could kill of the tie. Inter though have lost just one of their last 17 home matches in all competitions.
