Next stop Old Trafford for Mourinho?

Whether Chelsea were right nor not to sack Jose Mourinho is a moot point, because The Special One, for the second time in his career has been given the boot by the club. With Chelsea sitting 16th in the Premier League and having lost more games this season than the previous two combined, the axe fell on the head of the manager.

So with Chelsea on the hunt for  new manager a bigger question may well be where will Jose Mourinho head to next? If he is still out of work next summer then there could be some major reshuffling of the world’s best bosses around the top European clubs.

With Louis van Gaal failing to have made a positive impact so far at Old Trafford with Manchester United, the Red Devils are 11/10 favourites with online betting site Betfair to be Mourinho’s next club. That is just the type of challenge that he would love and it would give him the chance to stay in England and renew his rivalries with the likes of Arsene Wenger and perhaps prove a point that the Blues were hasty in their decision to fire him.

Pep Guardiola is out of contract with Bayern Munich in the summer, so would there be a trade of jobs? Would Guardiola go to Stamford Bridge while Mourinho moves to the Allianz Arena. That is a fascinating prospect because frankly, it is a swap of two of the best managers in the game at the moment and a huge contrast in style between the way they approach the game as well. Bayern Munich are 4/1 to be Mourinho’s next club.

That is the same price as PSG whose ambitions probably fit well with Mourinho’s own and he would have spending power there. But the Parisians are growing nicely with Didier Deschamps and it seems unlikely that the apple cart will be upset there. Rafa Benitez is struggling with Real Madrid at the moment, would they take Mourinho back as Chelsea did? Madrid are 12/1 at Betfair to be Mourinho’s next club.

He is 16/1 to go back to Inter and 20/1 to replace Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City. But why settle at a league club, why not a move to the international scene for Mourinho? There will probably be some international managerial casualties next season after Euro 2016 and Portugal is a 12/1 punt to be Mourinho’s next managerial position. England are 25/1 to be his next position.
