Kell Brook v Gennady Golokvin Boxing Betting Predictions & Odds

Can Brook avoid the KO in title battle?

Sports Betting

British boxer Kell Brook heads into the biggest fight of his career when he goes toe to toe with Gennady Golovkin for the WBC and IBF Middleweight titles which his opponent holds. This is a massive step up for Brook who has come up two weight divisions to have a crack at this. He may need to rely on his core foundations of balance, speed and movement when he steps into the ring on the weekend, because his opponent is a massive hitter.

The movement were are talking about was seen in Brook’s victory over Shawn Porter back in August 2014 when the American landed just 154 of 626 punches thrown at Brook, who then became the first Briton to beat an American in America for a welterweight title for nearly 30 years. That is the level of evasive maneuvers that Brook will again need to get something on the board in this one where you are looking at a big price of 7/2 on the fight going the distance. Brook is heavy, heavy underdog for this one at a price of 9/2 with Golovkin in at 1/7 odds on.

Brook defends a 36-0 win record for his professional career and he is one of the best movers in the sport. The weight gain that Brook has had to put on may not affect his movement too much, yes it is 13lb extra to what he normally fights at but he just looks as if he has done the muscle building the right way and he was pretty confident about his new body and looked quick and agile in a sparring session early this week. Brook is the king of footwork and that is his best route to winning by a Decision at a price of 9/1 with online betting site Bet365.

It’s highly unlikely that Brook is going to knock his opponent down despite his great record of 26 KOs from his 36 fights. This battle with Golovkin goes down at The O2 Arena in London and if he were to get the better of his opponent, it would probably be one of the biggest success stories in the history of boxing. Golovkin, from Kazakhstan, holds a 35-0 career record with all but three of those fights ending by a knockout. He is the knockout king of the sport and why Brook will need to be on his toes.

Golovkin, the son of a coal miner has produced a stunning unbeaten career (91% knockout percentage) and he is a a very short odds on price of 1/4 to win this bout by a KO, TKO or Disqualification. He is a power machine and up at 8/1 to finish the fight in either Round 5 or Round 6.  The Total Rounds for the Brook v Golovkin fight is a quote of even money to go under 6.5 rounds and it may just depend on how long Brook can evade his opponent, but is naturally going to tire the more that the bout rages on. Can the British boxer pull something special out or will he follow in the footsteps of 32 of 35 opponents that have gone in the ring with Golovkin?
