Strong Italian presence in Turin

European PGA BMW Italian Open Betting Info
The Italian Open takes centre stage this week in Golf betting as the PGA’s FedExCup play-offs take a break for a week ahead of the Tour Championship. Because of the top players being involved over there, naturally this kind of line up is taking away some of the presence of the big guns, but there is still a good field out in attendance. The BMW Italian Open goes off at Royal Park I Roveri in Turin this week and thee top three home grown talent is attendance for the 69th edition of the event.

European PGA BMW Italian Open Betting Defending Champion
This was held back in June last year, so with the tournament move there does come a bit of a change in conditions. England’s Robert Rock was in blistering form here last season, opening with a magnificent round of 64 and doing enough to hang on to his lead by a single shot at the end of the closing Sunday. Rock is back in the field to defend his title this week but hasn’t looked too threatening of late. He has missed two cuts in his last five starts and he hasn’t hit a round under 70 in 18 rounds of golf since the Irish Open back in July. There was his howler second round of 86 at the US PGA which will stick in many people’s mind. Missed a cut at the Johnnie Walker Championships at Gleneagles recently and not looking a good fit. Rock is trading at 60/1 with online bookmaker Bet365.

European PGA BMW Italian Open Betting Favourite
Francesco Molinari is primed as favourite this week in your golf betting. The bookies are sensibly aware of the threat from the home grown talent. This is the home City tournament for Francesco and his brother Eduardo and for Francesco, it will be the last competitive outing before he heads off to the Ryder Cup. Frankly, if either of the Molinari’s are going to win this event, then it is going to be Francesco. He goes off the back of a 6th place finish at the Johnnie Walker Championships and looking in pretty good shape at the moment. He has been very, very solid this season and he has only finished outside of the top fifty in two of his starts this season. He has landed a win, in Spain back in May, but has also posted two second placed finishes since them. There have been three top tens in his last six starts and is looking a good fit here to go and take the honours. Molinari is trading as 8/1 favourite with online bookmaker Bet365.

Other Contenders
There are two other Ryder Cup players in the field this week, in Nicolas Colsaerts and Martin Kaymer. Belgium’s Colsaerts actually looks a good fit this week. He fired in a top ten finish at the KLM Open last week and will be happy enough to carry that kind of momentum forward. He will want a good performance ahead of the Ryder Cup as well. A very solid player and wouldn’t put it past if if he is contention come Sunday Big momentum player and just looks as if he is steadily building to some big again. He has one win under his belt this season at the World Match Play. Martin Kaymer still continues to frustrate. Just as he is looking as if he is getting up a head of steam and momentum, it kind of slips through his fingers. Not a very strong option at the moment.

Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen is though. He had a good tournament here last year and he has been one of the hot players on the European Tour lately. Bombed badly at the Omega European Masters at the start of the month in missing the cut, but that has been an exception to his normally excellent form. Prior to the Omega Masters, Olesen hand landed three top twenties in four starts and was building up for a win to add to his Sicilian Open triumph back in April. He’ll probably shake off that missed cut and makes a terrific fit off the tee this week.

Best Outside Bet
It has to be Italian sensation Matteo Manassero. How could it not be. He has been very smart with his build up as he just done about anything he can to be in prime shape for a run at this title. He has geared his recent fixture list around making an appearance here and that kind of desire can’t be ignored at all. The 19 year old has landed five top tens this season and with an eighth place finish here last season, no reason why he can’t improve upon that. He seems to be a good fit with the course. Hasn’t quite been on the boil since a run of terrific form back between March and May, but not going badly at the moment. Should have the consistency to make an impact and at a price of 25/1 with online bookmaker Bet365 he looks a good outside bet.
