Leicester v Club Brugge Betting Preview – UEFA Champions League 22nd November

Big night for Leicester in their first ever UEFA Champions League campaign. They are sitting three points clear at the top of their group heading into Match Day Five and therefore they would be able to secure qualification with a draw as long as Copenhagen don’t win their match against Porto on the night. The Foxes would secure progress to the next round if they produced the win and they are taking on the bottom side in the group so are in with a great chance of making some history at the King Power on Tuesday. The Foxes hammered the Belgians 3-0 in the first meeting and can create their own fate if they pull off the double over them.

Leicester v Club Brugge Betting Tips

Can Leicester seal the deal and move through to the knockout stage of the competition? They have been such hit and miss on the domestic front this term strangely, and lost against Watford on the weekend. They are actually winless in their last four games now in all competitions, and that sequences includes as a draw against Copenhagen last time out on the UEFA Champions League. Leicester have earned ten points so far from their four group games and their defence has been immense, not having conceded a goal yet at all. Leicester to win to nil in this fixture with bookmaker Bet365 will fetch a price of 5/4. Both of Leicester’s home games in the Champions League this season have ended with a 1-0 win for them. A Leicester 1-0 correct score at Bet365 will return a price of 11/2.

The Foxes have already created some history in becoming the first team ever to keep clean sheets in their opening four games. If they go on and win the group, they would be the first debutants to do so since Malaga in the 2012/13 season of the competition. Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani have been responsible for the two goals they have scored at home this season (each assisted by the other) and Mahrez is at 3/2 and Islam Slimani at 6/5 options in the Bet365 anytime goalscorer market. Jamie Vardy has only had two shots on target in the competition so far and has failed to score. Leicester can boast a pretty strong W5 D3 L2 record at the King Power across all competitions this season, keeping clean sheets in five of those games.

Leicester aren’t facing stiff opposition here. The Belgians have only lost one of their last six games in all exemptions, but their Champions league form has been shocking. The only loss in that six game sequence as in their last Champions League outing at Porto on Match Day Four. They are bottom of Group G heading into this one with no points on the board so far and across their four games played, they have managed just the one goal too. There’s not a big threat here and even the UEFA Europa League looks a long way off. They would need to win their remaining two games and hope that Copenhagen lose theirs. Club Brugge are winless in their last nine games against English clubs in all competitions (D2 L7), failing to keep a clean sheet in any of those games.

Club Brugge have only played two previous European Cup/UEFA Champions League games against English sides and they have lost both of those. One was of course against Leicester earlier in the group, the other was in the 1978 Final when they lost to Liverpool. Club Brugge have kept just the one clean sheet in their last 13 games in the competition and they have only managed just the three goals in total in their ten previous away games in the Champions League. This is the fifth campaign that Club Brugge have contested in the competition and they have never made it out of the group stage. They are not going to make it out this season either and it’s probably worth backing the game to go under 2.5 goals for a price of 21/20 with Bet365.

Leicester v Club Brugge Predictions

The Foxes are not reliable in the Premier League at the moment by any stretch of the imagination, but there has been some good stuff by them in the UEFA Champions League so far. They are strong enough at the King Power to go out and win this one and it’s worth backing them to win to nil because Brugge are pretty shocking out on the road. Look for the game to go under 2.5 goals but for the Foxes to come out on top.
