Liverpool v Arsenal Betting Preview – Premier League 4th March 5.30pm

Liverpool were left smarting at the King Power on Monday night when they suffered a heavy loss against Leicester. That has seen them pick up just the one win in their last seven league games now but at home they will fancy their chances of taking down Arsenal. The Gunners haven’t done much winning out on the road recently and Liverpool can’t afford to lose ground in this one by losing, as that would put them four points behind the Gunners and having played a game more than the London outfit. The Reds need a big response similar to the form that saw them beat Spurs at Anfield recently.

Liverpool v Arsenal Betting Tips

It hasn’t been a great turn of form from Liverpool since the turn of the new year. Since 2017 rolled around, the Reds have only produced a W1 D3 L3 record in their seven Premier League games played in the calendar year. Considering the form that they had put down over the rest of the season, it has been a disappointing run of form from Liverpool. They lost heavily at the King Power against Leicester last Monday but in their last home game they did record a very good win over Spurs. Liverpool have gone W8 D3 L1 at Anfield in the top flight this season, so there has been good overall form them on home soil. With neither defensively at their best at the moment, both teams to score at Paddy Power is a price of 8/13 and you have a price of 8/11 going on the match ending up going above the 2.5 goal line. The last three at Anfield between Liverpool and Arsenal have gone over the mark and actually there have been 16 goals in the last three between these at Anfield which is an average of 5.3 goals per game and over 3.5 goals isn’t a stretch at 7/4 value.

Of the last three between these at Anfield in the league, Liverpool have gone unbeaten against Arsenal with a W1 D2 record on the board. The Reds have collected just two clean sheets in their last 22 Premier League matches against the Gunners and haven’t taken one in any of their last ten at Anfield against them. Liverpool’s very good form against the top six sides this season has to be noted and they also recorded that fantastic and breathtaking 4-3 win at Arsenal on the opening weekend of the season and not since the 1999/2000 season have they complete a league double over the Gunners. Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are 13/10 joint favourites in the Paddy Power anytime goalscorer market, with Sadio Mane looking much better value sat a price of 9/5. Three points are hugely important for the Reds here as they start the game just a point and a place back for Arsenal but they have played a game more.

Arsenal have W3 D1 L2 in their last six league games now and in their last game out on the road they were swept aside by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. There has been just the two clean sheets in their last six games in the top flight but they have collected 13 league points in 2017 compared to the six picked up by Liverpool. Three points would extend their lead over the Reds in the hunt to lock down a top four place, and it would still leave them with a game in hand over Liverpool. So this game could produce a big cushion for the Gunners if they can collect three points. However, their last win at Anfield came back in 2012. In their recent run of poor form on the road, Arsenal have lost at both Man City and Chelsea, which could be telling as they head to Anfield because once again they are struggling to win the big games. Arsenal are only W1 D1 L3 in their last five away games now in the top flight. Olivier Giroud has five goals in his last seven league appearances against Liverpool including three in his last two at Anfield. Giroud is a 2/1 anytime goalscorer option with Alexis Sanchez at 13/8.

Liverpool v Arsenal Predictions

Run with Liverpool on this one. They were pretty bad at he back against Leicester on Monday night, but the Gunners haven’t taken a win at Anfield since back in 2012. So the form is with the Reds in this one and as they showed in a great home win over Tottenham recently, they can turn it on in the big matches, having taken down Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal as well this season. Home win and that’s value at even money.
