Liverpool v Chelsea Betting Preview – Premier League 31st January 8.00pm

What a great looking match up we have at Anfield as the Premier League action returns after the short FA Cup break. Liverpool’s title challenge has fallen away recently with them not having collected a win in any of their last three league games. It has been a rough week for them too having exited both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup in the space of a few days. The Reds are finding wins hard to come by at the moment, but no such problems for Chelsea. The Blues could stretch their lead to twelve points over Liverpool if they can collect maximum points in this one. It is a big test for both.

Liverpool v Chelsea Betting Tips

This should be the highlight of the Premier League midweek action. Liverpool really need to hit a win in this one because they have just gone off the boil. They have only managed the one point in their last three Premier League outings now and worse, across all competitions they have gone just W1 D3 L4 and were dumped from both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup this week. So they aren’t going well to say the least at the moment and there has been quite a big drop off in their forward output compared to what they produced up until the turn of the new year. The Reds have only managed to score more than one goal in one of their last seven games now and they have failed to score in three of those seven. They have done pretty well at home this term in the top flight with a W7 D2 L1 record their first defeat of the season there came in their last home match against Swansea.

You have the option of 4/5 with Bet365 on Both Teams to Score in the match and there is a 3/4 quote on under 2.5 goals. Only two of the last six between Liverpool and Chelsea have gone over the 2.5 goal line. Liverpool did land a 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season against the Blues and therefore the Reds will be looking to defeat Chelsea both home and away in the same Premier League season for the first time since 2011-12. Liverpool have gone winless in their last four home matches against Chelsea in the Premier League with a D2 L2 record. There is a 1-1 correct score option up at a price of 6/1 and the Reds are missing Sadio Mané as they have taken just the one point in their three without him (W0 D1 L2). Daniel Sturridge is their shortest priced anytime goalscorer option at 15/8.

Chelsea had no problems against lower-league opposition in the FA CUp on the weekend like Liverpool did. The Blues coasted past the challenge of Brentford at Stamford Bridge to make it to the fifth round. Chelsea are top of the Premier League table by eight points over Arsenal heading into the midweek action and they face Arsenal on the weekend so this is a big week for the Blues in their title hunt. So this is an important game for Antonio Conte’s men not to lose. The Blues have produced a tremendous W15 L1 record in their last sixteen league games and away from home in the Premier League W7 L1 in their last eight on the road. That single loss in that sequence was a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham. Chelsea have kept six clean sheets in their last eight games out on the road and Antonio Conte’s men are a price of 5/2 at Bet365 take a clean sheet in this one.

There doesn’t appear to be any issues with Diego Costa and the big man is going to be very important for the Blues in this one in trying to get a the Liverpool back line. Costa is 11/10 in the anytime goalscorer market for the game and he has scored in 15 of his last 21 Premier League matches (16 goals in total) and of all players in the top flight to have made 20+ Premier League appearances, Diego Costa has scored in the highest proportion of games (55.4% – 41/74). Costa is 4/1 outright favourite in the Bet365 First goalscorer market. So this is a big week for Chelsea and they are carrying form to go and produce at Anfield. If they win their games against Liverpool and Arsenal this week, the title will be a lock for them.

Liverpool v Chelsea Predictions

Huge game for Chelsea and it may boil down to them avoiding defeat. This is a good time to be going to Anfield because Liverpool aren’t at the races at the moment and their key players aren’t performing to the top level. The confidence is low in the Reds and they have had a very busy time of things of late. No reason why Chelsea can’t go there and collect a point in this one so look for the draw and the 1-1 correct score option has appeal.
