Reds begin European campaign in Belarus

Europa League Betting

Liverpool v Gomel Europa League betting sees the unspectacular start to the Reds season in Europe. This is the third qualifying round of the Europa League and naturally it will be played over two legs, with the first coming in Belarus. Firstly there is still much transfer speculation up in the air surrounding Liverpool, with Alberto Aquilani apparently on the brink of a move to Fiorentina, a move which has been denied by his agent. Liverpool have also still been aggressively trying to sign Swansea’s midfielder Joe Allen, ruffling some feathers at the Welsh club, but grabbing all the headlines has been Andy Carroll. Brendan Rodgers does not appear to have too much use for the 23 year old, and apparently a loan deal with West Ham was agreed for him. However, according to some reports, Carroll himself has rejected the offer, preferring, if he has to leave Anfield, for it to be a move back to Tyneside to join back up with Newcastle.

New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been sizing up his squad during pre-season, not having had a lot of access to his main stars for one reason or another. It is unlikely that he is really going to need to call on too many of them to face FC Gomel on Thursday. Can Rodgers deliver the glory days back to Liverpool? Well, he will inject a bit of style into the side, style which has been sadly lacking for the past few seasons. Rodgers likes his sides to excel at Stamina, while Liverpool fans will be hoping that Swansea’s wonderful passing game which Rodgers implemented at the Welsh club, will translate over to the Anfield squad. Rodgers has been very good at integrating youngsters and developing younger talent, and the future doesn’t look too bad at Anfield in that respect.

While the new possession and movement style will gradually creep into Liverpool, the one issue that they do need to solve quickly is how to score more goals. Whether Andy Carroll or Craig Bellamy can do enough for them in support of Luis Suarez remains to be seen, and how much can new signing Fabio Borini really deliver? Liverpool still only managed two goals during pre-season, and they will quickly need to find someone to rely on up front.
