Liverpool v Southampton Betting Tips

Liverpool face Southampton in what is their penultimate home game of the Premier League season. They suffered a shock home loss against Crystal Palace in their last game at Anfield, but did immediately respond with an away win at Watford on Monday. Liverpool have been pretty reliable at home across the course of the season with a W11 D4 L2 record having been posted at Anfield. They have won four of their last six there too (D1 L1). There was a 0-0 draw in the league between themselves and Southampton earlier in the season and in the William Hill correct score market a Liverpool 1-0 result is an 8/1 option. Liverpool are winless in their last three (D2 L1) against Southampton though in the league. This is the fourth game between these two this season, with Liverpool failing to score against Southampton in three games this season – drawing 0-0 in the Premier League in November and losing both League Cup semi-final legs 1-0.  Under 2.5 goals at William Hill is a price of 6/5. Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi are 5/4 outright favourites in the anytime goalscorer market.

The Saints have gone winless in their last three league games now with a D1 L2 record on the board, the losses coming against Man City and Chelsea. They only managed a 0-0 home draw with Hull on the weekend though which was a bit deflating. Southampton’s away record this season in the top flight reads W5 D3 L9 and they have gone W3 L2 in their last five out on the road which isn’t bad. However, Southampton have won just one of their last five visits to Anfield in the Premier League (D1 L3) though. Manolo Gabbiadini, after four goals in his first four games for the club, has no goals and just one shot on target in his last 237 minutes of league action. He is an 11/5 option in the anytime goalscorer market. Both teams not to score at William Hill in this Anfield fixture is a price of 21/20 and that could be worth a flutter. Southampton won’t match their points tally from last season, even if they win all of their remaining games this season.

Liverpool v Southampton Predictions

Liverpool home win: Liverpool’s home form this season has been good and they just need a solid performance and a bit of patience probably against the Saints to take this one. Southampton have looked a little short going forward lately. Liverpool to win to nil.
