Man United v Liverpool Betting Preview
Part of a massive Super Sunday in the Premier League, the action from Old Trafford is likely to be another tense affair between these two old rivals. The Red Devils head into the game with a massive seven point lead over rivals Man City, and with the Citizens taking on Arsenal on Sunday, Sir Alex Ferguson could see his side extend their lead to ten points. Liverpool though have started to slowly climb the league table and would see a win at Old Trafford as a massive step forward in their season, and it could be a result which gets them right back in the mix for a European place next season.

Man United v Liverpool Recommended Bet:
A massive game for both sides and league leaders United go into it in sparkling form. Forget the fact that they were staring an FA Cup exit in the eye before Robin van Persie rescued a draw at West Ham, the starting lineup against Liverpool will be far removed from that. Out of their last nine Premier League fixtures, the Red Devils have dropped just two points thanks to some brilliant forward power. The goals have just not stopped flowing for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men at all, helping them to nine home wins, one draw and no defeats at Old Trafford this season in the Premier League. They are on a seven match winning streak at Old Trafford as well in the league and they have scored at a rate of 2.8 goals per game there this season. 80% of all their home games have gone over 2.5 goals out of interest. United have scored in every home game this season. They have scored two or more goals in seven of their last nine Premier League fixtures.
The United defence can look vulnerable, especially when attacked at pace and when long balls are fired at the heart of them. But they have kept back to back clean sheets in the Premier in their victories over West Brom and Wigan. United have conceded at a rate of 1.3 goals per game at Old Trafford this season. The Red Devils earned 2-1 wins in their last two league meetings against Liverpool in the league and a repeat of that would keep them very happy at the top of the table. Robin van Persie is the big threat that Liverpool are going to have to watch for, as he has sixteen league goals under his belt already. Only three times this season have United been losing at half time, but interestingly, their opponents have scored first in 11 of 21 United matches this season and the Red Devils have rescued so many points from losing positions this season. United have won 50% of all home matches against Liverpool in all competitions.

Can Liverpool keep their decent bit of momentum going? They have won their last two Premier League matches by a 3-0 scoreline, taking down QPR and Sunderland. That was their third clean sheet and third win in their last four league matches. They have been prone to slip ups, losing against Stoke and Aston Villa in their last five matches. But there are hints that they are getting a better balance. Luis Suarez, who scored a controversial winner in the FA Cup against Mansfield on the weekend, is going to be a massive influence again. Suarez, who has scored 15 league goals this season, has the speed and trickery to open up United’s defence and is red hot form. They now have Daniel Sturridge too of course, but he is reportedly not 100% fit.
Their overall away form in the Premier League has not been anything to write home about really, with three wins, four draws and three defeats. They have won two and lost two of their last four away matches. The Reds have won just one of the last six Premier League meetings against the Red Devils, their last triumph at Old Trafford coming in an emphatic 4-1 win back in March of 2009. Still not fully convincing enough to perhaps back fully for a win, but they should give a good account of themselves. A repeat of a 2-1 winning scoreline for Man United may be worth looking at for a price of 13/2 at online bookmaker Paddy Power, who also have a great Money Back Special running (see below).
