Manchester City v Liverpool Betting Preview – Premier League 19th March 4.00pm

The Citizens missed the boat in a draw against Stoke in their last league game but will move four points clear of fourth placed Liverpool with a game in hand over them as well, if they bank a home win in this one. It’s been a busy week for the Citizens with Champions League action. Can they raise their game and take down the Reds who have been striking-out on the road lately in the top flight? It is Liverpool who carry the strong head to head form in this fixture though, having won their last four in the league against the Citizens.

Manchester City v Liverpool Betting Tips

There is a great clash to come from the Etihad on Sunday evening, the final game of the Premier League weekend before the international break rolls in. Manchester City start the weekend in third spot, one place and one point ahead of Liverpool, but having played a game more than the Reds have. So they could open up an important gap here with a win. Man City exited the Champions League in midweek after a crazy 6-6 aggregate draw with Monaco, but at least that affords more focus back on the domestic front. Manchester City are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games (W4 D2) and notably in those games they have collected four clean sheets in their last five played. Pep Guardiola’s men have gone W4 D1 in their last five there but with just the one clean sheet in that sequence there at home. A 2-2 correct score may have appeal at 12/1 with Coral.

You have a quote of 4/7 at Coral  on both teams to score because both are betting in attack than defence. Also, that has happened in each of the last four meetings between the two of them at the Etihad. Manchester City don’t have much form going against the Reds as they lost 1-0 at Anfield back at the end of December. They have now posted a poor D1 L4 record in their last five against Liverpool in all competitions and they have lost five of their last six Premier League meetings with them as well (W1). The Citizens have not managed a single clean sheet in any of their last 12 games against Liverpool across all competitions, conceding 23 goals in a W2 D4 L6 record. So they certainly are not a home banker here. Sergio Aguero has scored in each of his four previous Premier League home games against Liverpool and he is a price of 5/6 in the anytime goalscorer market. Over 2.5 goals at Coral returns a price of 13/20 while over 3.5 gets you a quote of 6/4.

Liverpool fought back in an ugly home win against Burnley last time out, but that has at least seen them improve their form to W3 L1 in their last four, with victories over both Tottenham and Arsenal in that sequence. But those big wins came at Anfield and Liverpool are winless in their last four out on the road (D2 L2), losing their last two at Hull and Leicester in pretty disappointing fashion, particularly in defence. Liverpool have posted just a W6 D4 L4 this season and they really need three points in this one to keep in touch with those above them. Sadio Mane netted a hattrick for Southampton against City last season and he is a price of 2/1 in the anytime goalscorer market. Liverpool are unbeaten in their nine games against sides currently in the top six of the Premier League table this season (W5 D4 L0). Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has beaten Pep Guardiola more times than any other manager has managed against the Spaniard (5 times in all competitions). Can they keep their winning streak over the Citizens going?

Manchester City v Liverpool Predictions

Man City home win: The Citizens have been going well enough overall lately to be able to bank the win in this one. There will be periods when their defence will be under pressure from Liverpool’s attack, but the Reds are off the boil on the road and City can bank a big three points for themselves.
