Manchester United v Fenerbahce Betting Preview – UEFA Europa League 20th October

This isn’t a game that United can really afford to lose in the Europa League. If they do that, then they will find themselves four points behind leaders Fenerbahce and will likely be left to fight it out for second place. This is a group which has produced very few goals so far, just five across the four games played so far. So it may be a tight game at Old Trafford and Fenerbahce have a lot to play for because they head to Old Trafford and will be keen to defend their top spot in the group. Will United’s tough Monday night against Liverpool have taken something out of them for this one?

Manchester United v Fenerbahce Betting Tips

The Red Devils look as if they have little or next to no interest in the UEFA Europa League this season, sending out understate sides and not putting a great deal of effort into things. They started their campaign with a poor loss at Feyenoord and then struggled to see off Zorya at Old Trafford on Match Day Two, winning 1-0 only. So it has largely been a non-event from United in Europe this season. They play hosts to Fenerbahce on Thursday night and incidentally the Turkish outfit were the first to land a win at Old Trafford in UEFA competition against United, which happened back in 1996. This will be the fifth meeting between the two clubs and from those four previous clashes, which were all in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, the head to head is even.

From those four games, both have won two, one at home and one out on the road. The Red Devils boast an OK record against Turkish opposition and overall their form reads W7 D3 L4 (W4 D1 L2 at Old Trafford). Manchester United have put together a 12 match unbeaten streak in Europe currently and in that sequence of games have won nine of those twelve at Old Trafford. So good form form them and they edge favouritism even though Mourinho isn’t likely to field his strongest starting eleven. After their battle with Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night, they head out to face Chelsea in the Premier League on the weekend, games of higher importance. Wayne Rooney netted his first senior hat trick against Fenerbahce and he is running at a price of 3/2 to net on Tuesday, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford around the 6/5 mark. The game going under 2.5 goals is trading at a price of even money which may be value.

Running as the shortest priced option in the Correct Score market you have a Manchester United 2-0 and a Manchester United 1-0 at 6/1. Fenerbahce are carrying some decent form running into this one as they have gone unbeaten in their last six games across all competitions. In the Europa League they opened with a draw on the road at Zorya before carding a 1-0 home win over Feyenoord which has left the group pretty tight. Fenerbahce aren’t likely to run up a lot of goals in the competition and in the anytime goalscorer market they have former Manchester United man Robin van Persie at a quote of 5/2. This will be their fourth away game of the season in Europe and they have carded a W1 D1 L1 record. Fenerbahce reached the semi final of the competition back 2012/13 and have gotten out of the group in each of their four UEFA campaigns since then. They may prove difficult to break down and it’s well worth considering the game to peter out in a low scoring affair.

Manchester United v Fenerbahce Predictions

To be fair this has been a really dull group with no side looking as if they are going to really be prepared to step up and take control of things by the scruff of the neck. This is likely to be another flat European night for the Red Devils because of big Premier league commitments lately. Look for a low scoring game under 2.5 goals and a draw in the match outright probably offers a little value.
