Manchester United v Hull Betting Preview – EFL Cup 10th January 3.00pm

The Tigers have breathed some fresh air in their run to the final four of the EFL Cup. Their adventures of success there have far outweighed the troubles that they are having in hanging on to their Premier League status. Hull make a trip to Old Trafford for a very tough first leg in the semi final stage against Manchester United. The Red Devils have taken a pretty serious approach to the EFL Cup this season and after resting players on the weekend in the FA Cup, that could spell more trouble for the Tigers who have already suffered a loss against United this season.

Manchester United v Hull Betting Tips

Manchester United will be pretty content with the draw that they have picked up for the semi finals of the EFL Cup. It could have been worse as if they get through the tie with Hull they will face either Southampton or Liverpool at Wembley. Back in August Manchester United went to the KCom to face Hull in the Premier League. The Red Devils were on top in the game but only a 90th minute from Marcus Rashford landed them the three points. Still, a win’s a win and United extended their unbeaten streak to twelve games now against Hull across all competitions. The last time they lost to Hull was back in the 1974 old Division 2 when they went down 2-0. That’s not likely to happen here and a Manchester United to win to nil wager at Sky Bet is a price of 4/6 with big appeal for punters as United haven’t conceded in any of their last three against Hull. The Red Devils have collected four clean sheets in their last six against them.

It’s not as if Hull bring a lot of scoring power with them, so United should be relatively comfortable at the back here. That should lead punters to the correct score market where a Manchester United 2-0 correct score at Sky Bet is a quote of 9/2. The Red devils are unbeaten in their last fourteen games across all competitions and they have put together a very good eight match winning streak in all competitions, including their breeze to a 4-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup at Old Trafford on the weekend. That was only their second clean sheet in their last six games at Old Trafford though. However, both teams to score in this one is a price of 11/8 because Hull don’t raise too much of a threat. Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were both rested from FA Cup duty on the weekend and Zlatan is trading at a price of 5/2 in the First Goalscorer market, with Rashford at 10/3 and Wayne Rooney at 7/2.

Hull are going to have to raise their game to a new level here to get through this and post something that they can defend back at the KCom. A pretty tough start for new boss Marco Silva, but the Tigers drew confidence on the weekend with a 2-0 FA Cup win over Swansea. They needed that a lot as they ended a ten match winless streak all competitions. They seem to be enjoying Cup ties this season.  They aren’t great travellers because they have suffered a loss in each of their last six on the road and over their last nine away from the KCom have gone W1 L8.  Three of the four wins that they have recorded all season though away from home have all been in the EFL Cup (at Exeter, Stoke and Bristol City). In the last round of the EFL Cup, the Tigers had survived a penalty shoot out against Newcastle in the quarter finals but they have major selection issues with their back line which has been depleted for their semi final first leg. Not something they need ahead of this.

Manchester United v Hull Predictions

This should be the Red Devils all the way. They are humming along in some nice form and can easily get one over on the Tigers. It is probably going to be a low scoring affair so shoot under 2.5 goals as that will follow the trend of the last couple of meetings. But United to win to nil has to be screaming out some value for punters.
