Manchester United v Zorya Betting Preview – UEFA Europa League 29th September

A big game for Manchester United from the perspective that they will be looking to bounce back after a loss on Match Day One of the UEFA Europa League. The Red Devils were taken out by Feyenoord, as Jose Mourinho’s men turned in a horrible performance. It’s likely that the gaffer will be changing things up in his starting eleven after they recorded a much needed win in the Premier League on the weekend. Manchester United are strong, strong favourites to take the win in this one, and surely this isn’t a game which they can fail in. That being said Zorya won on their UEFA group stage debut a fortnight ago, beating Fenerbahce.

Manchester United v Zorya Betting Tips

Manchester United really blew their lines on Match Day One of the UEFA Europa League when they were beaten at Feyenoord. The Red Devils turned in a hugely average and flat display as they were beaten. So now with a look towards Match Day Two, the game against the Ukrainian side Zorya looks a formality for United. This is the first time ever that the two clubs will have met but United have faced Ukrainian opposition before. They are unbeaten in their six previous games against Ukrainian opposition (W4 D2) and the English side have won all three of their previous home games against sides from the Ukraine at Old Trafford. On top of that, they didn’t concede in any of those three home games, so Manchester United are a price of 8/13 to win to nil in this one. United are unbeaten in their last 11 European home fixtures with a W8 D3 record.

So the Red Devils have good European home form going since their last home loss in Europe, which was against Real Madrid back in 2013. But if you look at their form overall recently in UEFA Competition, it isn’t good. They have won just one of their last six European home games in a W1 D3 L2 record, which is well below par for them. It remains to be seen how interested they are in the Europa League, but this is the only major European trophy that United have never won. Up in the anytime goalscorer market you have Marcus Rashford who is probably worth a punt at a quote of 5/6 with the Wayne Rooney, who is likely to return to the starting eleven after being dropped on the weekend, is an even money price. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a 4/7 poke to net.

You can take a quote of 4/7 on the game going over 2.5 goals and there is a price of 6/4 on both teams to score in it. Is the latter worth a punt? Well maybe because Zorya have actually netted an average of just under two goals per game away from home in Europe. They aren’t highly experienced by they have scored goals and their seven European away matches to date have seen them go W4 D1 L2. This is their debut in the group stage of a UEFA competition though. Of those seven away games in Europe that they have played, they scored in six of them and they did come through for a position of underdog on Match Day One to beat out Fenerbahce. It may be a big step up through to win on the road at the home of one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Manchester United v Zorya Predictions

There shouldn’t be too much for Manchester United to worry about in this one and that loss against Feyenoord should quickly be forgotten. United looked a much better side on the weekend without Wayne Rooney, but Mourinho is likely to shuffle things again as he did on Match Day One. It may just be one of those routine pragmatic performances and United to win by a two goal margin should have appeal.
