With the Great British Bake Off moving channels, switching over to Channel 4, it has sparked speculation about some of the Beeb’s other mainstays. Bookmakers are predicting that the Match of the Day show will be the one to leave the station next, meaning fans would have to tune into another network to keep up on the latest action.

Match of the Day if favorite to follow The Great British Bake Off out of the BBC and there has been a price of 5/2 slapped on the show by Betway to be the next to change channels. The Rugby League’s Challenge Cup final is a 7/2 shot to switch. The BBC also hosts the FA Cup Final, Wimbledon and the World Cup Final, but those, according to the bookmaker are unlikely to make the move.

Strictly Come Dancing is the fifth favourite to be switched from the BBC at a price of 8/1.

Speaking about the future of the show, Betway Alan Alger explained: “News of the Great British Bake Off moving to Channel 4 has triggered a rumble of rumours about what might be the next show to go and Match of the Day is widely fancied at 5/2.

“Gary Lineker and Co.’s coverage of the weekend’s football highlights comes at a mighty cost for the BBC and, without a shakeup to the system, contracts could be cut early.”

He added: “Strictly Come Dancing and the Bake Off have been the BBC’s bedrock of entertainment over the past few years.

“We make it 8/1 for Strictly to follow in the footsteps of the baking competition by leaving the Beeb for another station.”
