Mexico v Cameroon Betting Tips

It is pretty tough to call just who could be following Brazil through from Group A. El Tri were hitting a bit of form, but then back to back losses against average European opposition in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Portugal really put the skids on them. Miguel Herrera leads them to the World Cup, the fourth manager in the last year to take on the challenge of Mexico. Before their slips in their final warm up matches, Mexico had looked as if they were picking up some steam, the goals starting to flow and avoiding defeat. So now they head to the World Cup looking to rediscover their winning touch.

Since the turn of the year, Mexico have posted a W3 D2 L2 record, so there are big inconsistencies there. Failure to score in their last two matches raised issues again which could plague them at the World Cup. Do they have the firepower? Oribe Peralta is trading as outright favourite in the anytime goalscorer market at 6/5, with Javier Hernandez at 2/1. Just to highlight their problems, those two have managed just the one international goal between them this season. A better option may be midfielder Marco Fabian who netted in back to back games recently against Israel and Ecuador. Mexico struggled defensively in the weak CONCACAF qualification zone and hard to call how they are going to stand up.

Cameroon aren’t a massive threat it has to be said. They look an aging, disorganised outfit to be honest. They head into this match in Natal as group outsiders, the African nation expected to finish bottom. Samuel Eto’o is still plodding along for them, and is 5/2 in the anytime goalscorer market. When he’s your top option at international level, there are clear issues. Since the turn of the new year they have posted a W2 D1 L2 record, defeats coming against Portugal and Paraguay. They did push Germany in a recent 2-2 draw and followed that up with a win over Moldova. They did make it to the quarter finals four years ago at the World Cup, and a confident start here could put them in the mix for the knockout stage. This is their most winnable match in the group.

Mexico v Cameroon Head To Head
Very little history to look at, as there has been just the one previous meeting. That was a friendly back in 1993, in which Mexico took a 1-0 win.

Mexico v Cameroon Predictions

Not expecting big margins either way on this one. Both are totally hit and miss, not a great deal of quality at the back, and lacking punch up top. Should be a low scoring affair at under 2.5 goals but this is a game where the underdog does have a sniff, so would carry Mexico in a Draw No Bet at 4/7
