Newcastle V Club Bruges Europa League
The Magpies are still looking for their top stride this season, but they head into Match Day Three in the Europa League top of the group and with a good chance of taking firm control. Their home form in Europe is looking formidable at the moment, but Belgian side Club Bruges are in great form this season on the domestic front, but were hammered on their previous away match in group D. Can Alan Pardew’s men keep their European momentum going?

Newcastle v Club Bruges Europa League Betting Odds at online bookmaker Bet365:
Newcastle 4/6, Draw 11/4, Club Bruges 9/2

Verdict:
The stand out stat for your betting here is Newcastle’s home form in Europe. They are unbeaten in their last 23 home games in this competition. Just to further back things up for a home win here, is that the Magpies have won all six previous encounters against sides from Belgium. So strong indicators that the Premier League side will take control of this match and get a win that will keep them well on track for the next stage of the tournament. While Belgium are impressing on the international front, their star players are earning their wages across Europe and not at home. So even through Bruges are top of their domestic league and in great form, it could be a bit misleading. The Belgians were hammered 4-0 at Bordeaux on Match Day One. Not suggesting that Newcastle are going to deliver as vicious a blow as that, but they should be comfortable enough in this one. Alan Pardew has largely been putting faith in his back-up players for Europe so far, and it has been enough. It should be again and it is worth looking at a Newcastle -1 Asian Handicap for a price of 11/10 at online bookmaker Bet365 looks good.

Stat Attack:
Newcastle have a W6 D0 L0 record against Belgian sides
Club Bruges have a W0 D2 L8 record in England
Newcastle have won the last seven in a row at home in Europe
This is the first time that the two sides have met

Newcastle v Club Bruges Betting Preview:
Newcastle’s home form should be enough to see them through this challenge. It looks as if it will just need a disciplined and controlled performance more than anything else. The challenge should not be that great from the Belgians. After earning a goal less draw out in Portugal against Maritimo on Match Day One, they Magpies followed it up with a very good 3-0 home win over Bordeaux That has left them top of the league, a point ahead of Club Bruges and Bordeaux. So a win for the Magpies should serve to pretty much push the Belgians out of the running and propel themselves towards the next round. Goals have been harder to come by this season for Newcastle than they were last season. Still, there is enough of a suggestion that they will outclass the Belgians, who looked very shaky on the road last time out.

Bruges may have only lost one match in their domestic league this season, but the Europa League is a step up. Their 4-0 away defeat at Bordeaux is a big indicator here and add to that the fact that they have never won in England from ten attempts, doesn’t suggest that an upset is going to happen. This is going to be a bit of a daunting trip to England then for Club Bruges who will mostly be looking to avoid defeat. Defensively they should create opportunities for Newcastle, and they go into this match on the back of just one win in their last five in the Belgian League anyway. Not in great form, so advantage Newcastle.
