Newcastle v Man City Betting Preview
The struggling Magpies will have been hoping for an easier match than this as they look to pick up some form. With Alan Pardew’s men slumping to five defeats in their last six league matches, the season continues to be one of disappointment for the Magpies. However, a win over the reigning champions would give them a massive boost and are they catching City, who have just one win in their last four matches, at the right time?

Newcastle v Man City Recommended Bet:
Current form and history between the two sides is all stacking up in favour of Man City here, but how desperately Newcastle need a win. Another defeat here could see them slide further towards the relegation zone. Another disappointing defeat, away at Fulham, was inflicted on Newcastle on Monday evening, and they are really finding the goals hard to come by. Newcastle have netted just six in their last six games, three of those coming in their 3-0 win over Wigan, their only bright spot in the last half a dozen matches. It is not as if they have had any refuge at home, losing two of their last three, three of their last five home matches. At home this season, Newcastle have recorded four wins, a draw and three defeats, but it is their recent decline where everything is going wrong. The Magpies are averaging just 1.25 goals per game at home this term and more than half of their league goals have been scored by Demba Ba, who has six goals in the last five Premier League matches at st James Park. Just to put Newcastle’s season into context, they are ten points worse off than they were last season and just to rub salt into the wounds they could suffer on the weekend, they have not beaten Man City in the last eleven league meetings.

Man City have taken nine wins and two draws in the last eleven league matches against the Magpies, so are rightly favourites. They were toppled last weekend, as a late Robin Van Persie goal gave Man United a win over them. That was their first defeat of the season, snapping their 21 match unbeaten run in the top flight. But Roberto Mancini’s men still have a good away record, going unbeaten in their last ten on the road, keeping a very good five clean sheets in that batch of games. Man City have been awarded four penalties in the last six meetings against Newcastle as well, so things should be good for them. However, they are only averaging 1.3 goals per game on the road this season, nowhere near as prolific as their home rate. However, it is their defence which has been helping them through, keeping three clean sheets in a row away from home. City have won each of the last five games between the two clubs so they are trending well here. Carlos Tevez has a good strike rate of four goals in six games against the Magpies. Roberto Mancini’s men need to show some fight, resilience and respond to their defeat last week. It doesn’t look too much like a fixture which should trip them up, and could be worth looking at a Man City 1 Goal Winning Margin for a price of 12/5 at online bookmaker Paddy Power.
