Idris Elba, who at one point looked as if he was the hot-favourite to be the next James Bond, drifted in the betting market last year. But now the Luther actor is back in the mix of things and sits as 5/2 joint favourite with Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender to be the next 007. Elba recently teased fans by dropping an alleged hint during a comedy video which set punters in action to back him again.
Daniel Craig is still James Bond at the moment, the second-longest serving actor in the role, having starred in four movies, but the market to follow in his footsteps as the star of the franchise is as wide open as you can get. There really hasn’t been any clear indicators which was this is going to go and one-time favourite Aidan Turner has drifted back to 4/1 alongside James Norton.
Tom Hiddleston said recently that no-one has talked to him about taking on the role while Michael Fassbender said that he is surprised that his name is still in the market, going as far as saying that he wasn’t really interested in the role anyway. Which could lead things back to Tom Hardy as being some value here as the Mad Max star has never drifted far from the head of the Ladbrokes Next James Bond betting market.
