Next James Bond Betting – three figure sum stuck on Tom Hardy

Bold shot in the dark, or insider knowledge?

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting

No-one has any idea of how much longer the Next James Bond betting market is going to be active. But one punter decided to throw out a three-figure bet on it being Tom Hardy who is the next star of the movie franchise. The betting (across different bookmakers to limit risk) was done on Tuesday, the opening day of Royal Ascot when some punters will have been distracted by the Berkshire action.

But the punter was clearly tuned into this novelty market. So is this is a case of someone knowing something that the rest of the public doesn’t, or is it just a shot in the dark, a very bold and expensive shot in the dark after having read one of the many rumours that have been abound about who will be the next 007.

Tom Hardy’s name has been in the running for a long time now and just a couple of months ago he saw his price cut and right now is around the 3/1 mark in next James Bond betting at Ladbrokes. His epic, Bond-like actions of chasing a moped thief through the streets of Richmond saw his odds tumble a month ago when the story broke.

Twelve months ago, Hardy was nothing more than a 14/1 price to be named the next James Bond and currently, along with Hardy, the following actors are all under 10/1 to land the role; Aidan Turner, Idris Elba, Jack Huston, Tom Hiddleston, James Norton and Michael Fassbender.

At the back end of May, there was another three-figure bet laid down on Hardy, star of Mad Max: Thunder Road, becoming the next 007. This year, the 39 year-old has been the most popular bet accounting for 12% of bets placed on the market, but it is Michael Fassbender (star of Assassin Creed) who holds the largest share of the money; a massive 32% of money stakes in the market has been on him.

There have been no new media stories breaking this week suggesting that Hardy is going to get the role ahead of anyone else. So did this latest wager come from the inside? As of now though, to everyone else, the next James Bond market is very uncertain and that is the reason why you have so many options under the price of 10/1.
