Improving Cardinals could be NFC value this season

Every year, the Green Bay Packers are backed to win Super Bowl. But their win in the 2010-11 season was the only time that the team from Lambeau Field had won the NFC since 1998.

The Packers are only a best 5/1 with bwin to be champions of their conference this season but have already lost highly-rated receiver Jordy Nelson to a knee injury. QB Aaron Rodgers will again be under pressure to lead his team to the play-offs, though they look an absolute shoe-in now for the NFC North at bwin’s 5/11 as their only serious rivals, Minnesota Vikings, are looking for a new QB after Teddy Bridgewater was ruled out for the season.

Seattle Seahawks are bidding for a third NFC title in four years and are a general 4/1. Pete Carroll’s team will again have one of the strongest defenses in the NFL but they again look a bit short of star quality in offense. Battering ram Marshawn Lynch has gone so they will have to develop their passing game a little better, though still look the team to beat.

Last season’s NFC champions the Carolina Panthers are a best 5/1 with Betfred to win the conference again but that looks short enough to me. They do have wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin back this season but Cam Newton will have to match last year’s exploits to get the Panthers up there again and with home advantage in the play-offs. Teams will give them a lot more respect this year and they could miss the crunching tackles of Josh Norman, who has gone to Washington.

ARIZONA CARDINALS are only a best 13/2 to win the NFC but are the dark horses this season. Their offense will cause problems week-in, week-out as Carson Palmer has some talented receivers to aim at. All round, they are stronger than last year  and I wouldn’t mind a bit of the general 6/4 about them upsetting the Seahawks (5/6) in the NFC West.
