Norwich v Chelsea Betting Preview
The Canaries had a ten match unbeaten streak snapped on the weekend as they lost at West Brom on the weekend. They have a chance to restore themselves to form but of course will have seen the demolition job that the Blues did over Aston Villa on the weekend. The Blues ran out 8-0 winners at Stamford Bridge but have only managed to pick up one win at Carrow Road in their last five matches. The Blues beat Norwich 4-1 at the Bridge at the start of October, a double would keep their slim title hopes alive.

Norwich v Chelsea Recommended Bet:
The Canaries will be looking to avoid back to back defeats as they host Chelsea on Boxing day. After taking the lead at the Hawthorns, they couldn’t extend their unbeaten run as they went down 2-1. Still there has been huge improvements in the Norwich side as Chris Hughton has them playing some very good football at the moment. They have tightened up their defence but their downfalls will come because they can’t score enough goals. They don’t do things by big margins either, but there is a  home trend here for Norwich, as they have won their last five league matches at Carrow Road all by a one goal margin (three of them being 1-0 victories). They have beaten both Arsenal and Manchester United in that run, so that shows the measure of what they have been achieving. Norwich have also lost just one of their last five Boxing Day fixtures too, and you can’t ignore that home run of theirs. They have lost just once at Carrow Road this season, and have scored at a rate of 1.25 goals per game there and have conceded at a rate of 1 goal per game. Just to show how tight things generally at a Carrow Road, 62.5% of Norwich’s matches there have gone under 2.5 goals. Joint top scorer Robert Snodgrass is trending with three goals and two assists in his last five appearances in the league. Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 0-0 draw, something that the Canaries would be pretty happy with again.

This may not be as easy of a game as people may think for Chelsea. In seven of the last ten meetings between these two in the league, the away side has failed to score. Chelsea too haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home in their last six Premier League matches, so there could be an opening for Canaries. The Blues blew Aston Villa away on the weekend, and you would expect them to come back down to earth a little bit. Chelsea did arrest some indifferent away form though, snapping a three match winless streak when they cruised to a 3-1 win over Sunderland recently. The Blues have tremendous forward options and Juan Mata and Eden Hazard looked in top form against Villa. Fernando Torres now has three goals in two Premier League matches. Chelsea have won half of their away games this season and have scored at a rate of 1.75 goals per game. Defensively they haven’t been that sound on the road, conceding at a rate of 1.25 on the road. Chelsea have scored first in 11 of their seventeen Premier League matches this season and with that Villa win, which should have instilled a lot of confidence, could Benitez be sending Chelsea on an upward swing? Because of the extra firepower that Chelsea can produce they could be worth taking at a -1 Asian Handicap for a price of Evens at online bookmaker Paddy Power.
