PGA Tournament of Champions Golf Betting Info
The first golf betting of the 2013 PGA calendar year is with us, as the Hyundai Tournament of Champions tees off this week. This is a four day tournament and the participants are limited to those who won a tournament during the previous season. This week’s action from the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, is also the first event of the new FedEx Cup challenge as well.

PGA Tournament of Champions Golf Betting Defending Champion
Steve Stricker took the title here last season and the experienced hand has already announced that he will be cutting back his appearances over the season. Because of that, it could actually make him stronger, with limited chances of winning stuff it should make him more determined. He knows his way around the course here very well, shooting a good -23 under par for the event last season. Stricker isn’t the favourite here this week but at odds of 14/1 with online bookmaker Ladbrokes, may be worth consideration.

PGA Tournament of Champions Golf Betting Favourite
Matt Kuchar is heading the field as favourite for this week. He is the man you look to for consistency and his track record at the event will put him in great standing. Won The Players last season and with a T6 in 2011 and 3rd in 2010 at the Tournament of Champions, is going to be in good stead. Always interesting betting on players fresh out of the blocks for the season, and it is his consistency which could drive him to the title. Great value in the profit from him at odds of 10/1 with online bookmaker Ladbrokes.

Other Contenders
Dustin Johnson could come into play with big effect here because of his distances of the tee. That is a big weapon in his arsenal and with him coming back into form after missing months with injury last season, he really has the game to stroll away with this. Such a consistent winner on the tour and he has exactly the same setup to start the new season with, just to add to his consistency. Would expect a big weekend from him.

Because of how distance will play into the favour of players at the Plantation Course, Bubba Watson is naturally going to be in with a chance. Should see some drives around the 400 yard mark, that wouldn’t be out of the question this week, certainly not from Bubba. Improved his all round game immensely last season, especially with the putter, and because of distance alone should be right up there.

Brandt Snedeker on the other hand will look to his work with the putter to put himself up there. Has certainly started living up to potential with such a fantastic show in the FedEx Cup play offs last season, where he came out on top as Champion. Would be great for his own game and confidence if he could start 2013 with a bang against such a quality field. Cool and composed enough to blitz the field.

Jason Dufner, a lot of people’s choice to get his hands on the FedEx Cup this year, is heading in 2013 off a career year. His work in course management is simply supreme and hard to see anyone matching up to. Hopefully he can drive on from his big achievements last season and it will be his steady work from tee to green which will get him close here.

Best Outside Bet
Ian Poulter. This will be only his second appearance at the Tournament of Champions after landing a T6 back in 2011. Of course he had that great second half of 2012 and his heroics at the Ryder Cup, which saw him really hitting top gear. He himself admits that he should have won more through his career. You would look at others to get the season off to a fast start ahead of Poulter in the new year, but not a bad maverick option out at 18/1 with online bookmaker Ladbrokes.
