Premier League Darts Betting 2014 Odds and Preview – Week 12

Phil Taylor trending towards finals night

Sports Betting

There are just four weeks left of the regular season for 2014 Premier League darts betting. The table is starting to take shape now, with the Dutch duo of Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld looking likely to make it through to finals night. They are the top two in the league and they have left a big scrap for the remaining two spots behind them, and Phil Taylor is trending towards one of those.

Robert Thornton and Gary Anderson are on double duty this week, having to play two matches each. Thornton looks out of the finals night picture as he is already seven points adrift of the top four and hasn’t won any of his last five matches. That will put him as underdog against Peter Wright and Gary Anderson, both of which have a big say in who will be finishing inside the top four this season. Wright, after losing just one of his first nine matches, has hit a slump in losing his last three, losing against Dave Chisnall last week.

Anderson is plodding along nicely with back to back wins and is around even money favourite to beat Thornton in the last game of the night on Thursday in Manchester. Anderson’s other game is against Phil Taylor, and the Scot is 7/2 underdog there. Taylor starts the night in fourth place, just a point ahead of Anderson, so a pretty big clash there, but with The Power turning up the heat in winning his last three and going unbeaten in six, it is he who is running at 4/7 favourite to beat Anderson. Taylor scored a massive revenge over Michael van Gerwen in Aberdeen last week, The Power putting on one of his famous powerhouse displays to romp to a 7-4 victory with a 106 three dart average.

The night’s two other games sees second placed Raymond van Barneveld go up against Adrian Lewis, who, like Robert Thornton and Peter Wright, is another man slumping right now. Lewis hasn’t taken a win in his last six Premier League matches either, losing the last three on the trot.

That should be a good chance for Barneveld to keep up the pressure on leader Michael van Gerwen, who is a point clear at the summit over his countryman. Van Gerwen will go as heavy 2/5 favourite in his match against Dave Chisnall, who himself has a lot to play for as he is only three points out of the top four.
