Reading v Arsenal Betting Preview
Extra pressure is mounting on Reading, who slipped to the bottom of the table after QPR picked up their first win of the season on the weekend. That has seen the Royals slump to the bottom of the pile, a point adrift. Not helping themselves by going on a five match losing slide, the Royals find themselves in trouble. As for the Gunners, boss Arsene Wenger has been a man under pressure but arrested some below par form of their own last time out with a home win over West Brom. This is not a match in which the Gunners will want to drop more points in and fall further behind in the race for a European spot.

Reading v Arsenal Recommended Bet:
With just one win under their belt all season and with the goals drying up, Reading are in big trouble. With five defeats in a row and with a failure to score in three of those five games, Brian McDermott’s men really need to turn the tide. For a boost, they may get strike duo of Jason Roberts and Pavel Pogrebnyak back for the match. To add more gravity to this Monday night situation for Reading, the Royals have never beaten Arsenal in any of the previous ten meetings (in all competitions). Reading have managed to keep just one clean sheet in the Premier League all season and they have also thrown away more points from winning positions than any other sides this season in the top flight. They of course, quite famously took a 4-0 lead over the Gunners when they met in the Capital One Cup this season, only to get pegged back to 4-4 in ninety minutes and then go on to lose 7-5 in extra time. At home this season in the league, Reading have picked up a W1 D4 L2 record and something may need to be taken into context here. In their run of five straight defeats, four of those matches were on the road. Their last home match was the thrilling 3-4 defeat against United, and prior to that they were four unbeaten at the Madejski.

Arsenal could be nervous about this one because they have won none of their last six away games in all competitions. Arsenal lost in the week in the Capital One Cup against Bradford heaping pressure on Arsene Wenger. Since beating Reading in that tremendous League Cup game, Arsenal have managed to win just three of their eleven matches following that triumph. It may not be as straight forward of a game for Arsenal as many may think, as they have not won a game outside of London since the start of September. Not only that, Arsenal have struggled for goals on the road as well, scoring just eight this season on their travels in the Premier League, an average of one per game. Defensively they have been good though, conceding at a rate of 0.75 goals per away game. Arsene Wenger’s men have drawn their last two away matches at Aston Villa and Everton. However, with Reading conceding 23 goals at home in the league this season, Arsenal should be able to edge this one. It may be worth looking at an Arsenal -1 Asian Handicap for a price of 11/10 with online bookmaker Bet Victor
