Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Betting Tips

The competition is probably going to be Real Madrid’s to lose if they win through this tie. That would get rid of Bayern Munich and with Barcelona looking on the brink of an exit as well, it could be a good midweek for Real Madrid. They are on target to be the first ever side to win back to back Champions League titles. Madrid were a goal down in the first leg before Cristiano Ronaldo broke his Champions League drought with a couple of goals to flip the tie on its head. Ronaldo is trading at 10/3 in the Bet365 First Goalscorer market and 8/11 in the anytime goalscorer market for this second leg. All five previous teams winning 2-1 away from home in the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie have progressed to the next round. The Spanish giants are running on an unbeaten W10 D2 streak of form at home in the UEFA Champions League (W10 D2) and Bayern doesn’t have a good record there at all. This is the third meeting in six seasons with each having won one of those ties.

Juventus and Real Madrid are the only two unbeaten sides left in this season’s Champions League and Madrid are in the quarter finals for the seventh consecutive season. They have a superb home record of W23 D5 L3 against German sides and they hold a W13 L8 record in two-legged ties with German opposition, winning their last five ties against Bundesliga sides. Madrid have lost only one of the 31 UEFA competition ties in which they won the first leg away from home. So pretty much all of the stats are in their favour for this one and there is probably going to be goals in this one so over 3.5 goals at Bet365 is trading at even money. Real Madrid have also never failed to score in their last 34 Champions League home games, longest ever run in the competition and both teams to score in the match returns a price of 2/5. Madrid have actually netted at least two goals now in each of their UEFA Champions League games this season, but on the flip side of that, they haven’t managed a clean sheet. They have conceded first in each of their knockout stage matches this season, but have still won each of those games.

Bayern did miss what could be a costly penalty in the first leg and you can’t afford to do that at this stage, not against the defending Champions. Only twice in UEFA Champions League history have a team overhauled a first-leg home defeat to win the tie. So the Germans have an uphill battle ahead of them and they have only ever recorded two wins at the Bernabeu. The last time they lost out in a quarter-final was in 2008/09 against Barcelona and their record in two-legged ties against Spanish sides reads W9 L9. The Germans have already suffered a defeat in Madrid this season, going down 1-0 at Atletico in the group stage. Overall Bayern’s away record against Spanish clubs is W6 D5 L14. Bayern have lost four home first legs in UEFA competition and won two of those ties on aggregate. Robert Lewandowski is trading at 8/11 in the Bet365 anytime goalscorer market, but Arturo Vidal has scored each of their last three Champions league goals (he missed the penalty in the first leg). Troublingly for them ahead of this one, they have taken only one clean sheet in their last eight Champions League games and they have lost eight of their last 10 away games against Real Madrid in all competitions (W2), including the last five.

Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Predictions

Real Madrid Home Win: This is probably done and dusted. The more Bayern tries to get into this the more trouble they could find themselves at the back. Real Madrid are so strong on home soil, they are value to go out and win this second leg, in a game with both teams to score as well.
