The main draw for the Snooker World Championship Betting 2017 starts on April 15th and runs through to the Final on May 1st. This famous tournament is once again being staged at the equally famous Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. This is the final ranking event of the 2016/17 snooker season and going back into action as the defending champion this year is Mark Selby. Selby is trading as 4/1 joint-favourite with online betting site Coral for the Snooker World Championship Betting 2017.

He will be running in some confidence as well after claiming the China Open title recently, after edging out Mark Williams 10-8 in the final. That result incidentally, left Williams needing to go through qualifying for the World Championships 2017. That was a big result for the form of Selby, particularly because Judd Trump had crashed against the Iranian World Number 76 Hossein Vafaei in the quarter-finals. Selby has won the World Championships twice in the last three seasons now so is definitely going to take some good backing in his one. Judd Trump is still on the hunt for his first World Championship title.

At last year’s event, Trump was stopped in the second round by Ding Junhui. But overall he has had a pretty decent season and punters have backed him into that 4/1 joint-favourite position in Snooker World Championship Betting 2017 Winner Odds alongside Selby. Selby is the number one seed for the tournament, with Judd Trump running as the second seed so they would be kept apart until the final. There is a price of 12/1 at Coral on a Mark Selby/Judd Trump Final at the Crucible this year.

During qualifying, Reanne Evans was looking to become the first ever women to make it through to the main draw of the World Championship. She found herself embroiled in a marathon duel with Welshman Lee Walker though and despite fighting back from 6-1 down to 9-6 in the match and looking in control for most of it, she couldn’t finish the job. So while it is Trump and Selby trading at the head of the market, the field is stacked with potential in the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Ding Junhui and Neil Robertson

Snooker World Championship Betting 2017 Winner Odds & Predictions

Mark Selby – it has been a big season from Selby, who completed his second Triple Crown, and the jester from Lester is tracking along to finish off the season in some style. He has bagged himself four ranking titles this season already and for many, he will be the frontrunner for the action at The Crucible, especially after his recent win in China. There is no-one can touch his form or success on the snooker circuit this season.

Judd Trump – If success is measured only in titles, the Trump’s season has not been right up there. He has claimed the European Masters and the Players Championship titles this season, but his tally for the seasons could have been so much bigger because he has been to at least the semi-finals in six other tournaments this season. So he has been there or thereabouts but he hasn’t been able to convert often enough when the pressure has been at its highest. Perhaps the only thing working in his favour is that after his shock loss in the quarter-final in China recently, he will want to come back with something to prove.

Ronnie O’Sullivan – You just never know what you are going to get from the Rocket. He emphatically won the Masters this season but that has been it from him. He really hasn’t had the greatest of seasons by any stretch of the imagination and in turning up at the Shanghai Masters recently, that was his first tournament appearance for five months. He is just a wild dark horse in the tournament and he is up in Selby’s half of the draw. He is a five-time World Champion, but he hasn’t quite been on his game this season.

Ding Junhui – He was the runner-up to Selby in last season’s World Championship. Going off of his break-building performance at the Crucible last year he is going to be good outside bet. Ding was running pretty hot through the first half of the season, but he hasn’t been back to a final since losing to Mark Selby at the International Championship back in October last year.

Neil Robertson – The Australian has had a disappointingly quiet season. He is a former World Champion but has been well short of that kind of quality this season. He is nothing more than an outsider at the moment for this one as he has suffered some strange setbacks such as his loss against Peter Lines in the UK Championship and getting whitewashed by Ronnie O’Sullivan in the European Masters. It hasn’t happened for him this season.

Snooker World Championship Betting 2017 Winner Predictions

We are going on the basis of elimination in this one. Ding Junhui and Neil Robertson are better players than their current form is showing so they aren’t likely to make a huge impact, particularly in the crowded top half of the draw. The same can be said of Ronnie O’Sullivan who is going to have to pull out all of the stops and then some to work his way through a tough draw to get to the final alone. So that boils down to Trump and Selby. Of the two, Trump having been the nearly-man of the season, actually has a much easier path to the final than Selby does and that has to count for something. For that reason, simply because there are bigger hurdles in the way of Selby, we are going with Trump to show his mettle and respond to that shock defeat in China.

Our dark horse each way bets for the Snooker World Championship Betting 2017 will be Marco Fu who had that great run at last season’s championships and who recently went to the final of the Players Championship and who won the Scottish Open this season, to have a good run. The other has to be third seed Stuart Bingham who could benefit hugely from the being in the easiest quarter of the draw.
