Stoke v Chelsea Betting Preview – Premier League 18th March 3.00pm

Chelsea will go into the weekend still defending a ten point lead at the top of the Premier League table and they are inching their way to the title. This isn’t any easy trip to the Potteries though for them as they have won just once in their last four visits to face Stoke. The Potters earned themselves a good point away against Manchester City in their last league outing as well as spotlight on their resilience. Can they give the Blues a frustrating afternoon as well?

Stoke v Chelsea Betting Tips

It is a pretty good run of form that Stoke are on at the moment as they have gone W4 D3 L2 in the Premier League since the turn of the new year. At home, they have put together a great eight match unbeaten streak (W4 D4) which suggests they have what it takes to give Chelsea an uncomfortable afternoon. Stoke’s form this season at the Bet365 Stadium reads W6 D5 L3 but they have lost just one of their last twelve there. The Potters don’t have great form against Chelsea as they have won just two of their previous 17 Premier League meetings with Blues (D3 L12) but both of those victories were on home soil against them. Stoke have only lost two of their last seven home games against Chelsea in all competitions (W2 D3 L2) but both of those loses were by a 2-0 scorleine. A Chelsea 2-0 correct score at Bet365 is a price of 13/2. Saturday’s game will be the 13th occasion that Stoke have played against a team placed top of the Premier League on the day of the game. Of the previous 12, they have won just once – versus Manchester City in December 2015 (W1 D2 L9). Saido Berahino and Wilfried Bony are 3/1 anytime goalscorer options for them in this one.

Chelsea moved through to the FA Cup semi finals at the expense of Manchester United last Monday and now turn their attentions back to the league. The Blues have taken 8 wins in their last 11 games out on the road in all competitions. They haven’t been destroying anyone out on the road lately and in their last five games away from the Bridge in the top flight, Chelsea have only gone W2 D2 L1. The clean sheets appear to have dried up for Antonio Conte’s men as they have conceded exactly one goal in each of their last five league games (Home and Away) and both teams to score in the fixture at Bet365 returns a price of 19/20. A 2-1 Chelsea win is an 8/1 correct score option. Diego Costa is 5/6 anytime goalscorer favourite with Eden Hazard at 8/5. Costa needs one more goal to reach the 50-goal mark in the Premier League and if he does it in this one, only four players in the history of the Premier League will have reached that target in fewer games. With just the one win in their last four visits to Stoke, this isn’t an easy game for Chelsea, who took a 4-2 win over the Potters at the Bridge on New Year’s Eve.

Stoke v Chelsea Betting Odds

Stoke 5/2, Draw 3/1, Chelsea 4/7

Stoke v Chelsea Predictions

Draw: Chelsea haven’t been as dominant on the road as they have been at Stamford Bridge and as their point against Man City proved, the Potters can be a tough side to get the better of on home soil. Neither would exactly be unhappy with a point, so settle for that.
