Sunderland v QPR Betting Preview
Sitting bottom of the table, Rangers finally made the decision to shake things up as they sacked Mark Hughes to be replaced by former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp. The new boss got a good look at his side on Saturday as they took a lead at Old Trafford before a ten minute golden spell from the home side saw QPR lose 3-1. Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill is trading as favourite to be the next Premier League manager to get the sack as they were heavily beaten at home on Saturday by West Brom.

Sunderland v QPR Recommended Bet:
Pressure is seriously mounting on the Black Cats, who slid further towards the relegation zone with their third defeat in four matches on the weekend. They were overpowered at home by West Brom, leaving Sunderland with just two wins on the season, and just three points clear of the drop zone. They get another shot at home in midweek as they host bottom side Rangers and another defeat could well spell the end of the O’Neill era. The Black Cats have won just one of their five home matches this season and they are averaging just one goal per game. 80% of their home matches have gone under 2.5 and that is because they are fairly tight. They had conceded just three before their blow up at home against West Brom on the weekend. This fixture last season produced a 3-1 home win for Sunderland and in the overall head to head between them, Sunderland have won 13 against QPR’s ten. Sunderland are unbeaten in their last five home games against QPR. Sunderland haven’t been strong up front this season but they have netted six goals in their last three matches now, so are perhaps on the upward swing. The pressure of avoiding defeat here is going to be immense. Their defensive strengths should be good enough for at least a point.

QPR gave a good account of themselves at Old Trafford on the weekend. Harry Redknapp was watching and now the Rangers fans will wait and see what miracle he can perform. Never underestimate the influence of a new manager arriving, but there are still evident problems with QPR. The biggest problem is their defence which just crumbles under any severe pressure and there is a lack of concentration over 90 minutes. They are yet to win on the road this season and have just a point in the bag from their seven away games played. They have conceded an average of two goals per game on the road and are averaging less than one scored themselves. Rangers have opened the scoring in just 23% of their matches this season, which means that they are constantly chasing things. They will be spirited under Redknapp for his first game, but they have managed just one away goal in their last three and there is a perceived lack of quality in the squad which Redknapp has to work with. But perhaps the Redknapp influence will see them battle and scrap for a point . A draw doesn’t look a bad option and there could be value in a 1-1 Correct Score at a price of 6/1 at online bookmaker BetFred.
