Tottenham V Maribor Europa League
The Premier League side have failed to do much of anything in the Europa League this season. They have picked up three draws from three games so far, but they are still in with a good chance of reaching the next stage. That is, unless they lose on Thursday night, then it will be unlikely that they will in the knock-out stage.

Tottenham v Maribor Europa League Betting Odds at online bookmaker Bet365:
Spurs 1/4, Draw 9/2, Maribor 11/1

Verdict:
It may seem a little strange that difference in odds here are so wide by the bookies. The Slovenians almost sprung a surprise on home soil a couple of weeks, with Spurs hitting back to equalise after the hosts had taken a half time lead. The Slovenians have a lot at stake here and will know that if they can take a point away from their trip to London, they will do themselves a massive favour in terms of qualification hopes. They are a point ahead of Spurs going into this match and have big ambitions of their own. Spurs have just been a bit lack lustre in Europe this season, sure the boss has changed personnel (if remaining rigid in his tactics) but Spurs just haven’t produced anything clinical or convincing. The London club opened with a 0-0 home draw against Italians Lazio and have at least the comfort of two home games in their remaining three fixtures. They really should be winning this one, and no English side has ever lost to a Slovenian one. Spurs have been shaky at home in Europe, winning just two of their last seven. Maribor lost their only other away fixture so far, 1-0 away to Lazio. It may not be as convincing of a win as the bookies are suggesting, but Spurs should still take the tie. A Tottenham -1.75 Asian Handicap is trading at 23/20 and could just be about right at online bookmaker Bet365.

Tottenham v Maribor Betting Preview:
Can Spurs preserve English clubs’ unbeaten record against Slovenian opponents? They really should do so, even if their European home form isn’t great. They have won just two of their last seven at White Hart Lane in Europe and their Premier League form has started to desert them a little bit as well, losing two of the last three The thing about Spurs is that when Villas-Boas has his system working then it is fine, all looks rosy, but it is a fragile, rigid set up that can all come tumbling quickly as shown in a poor home defeat against Wigan at White Hart Lane on Saturday. They failed to produce a lot against the Slovenians but really should come out and put in a strong performance.

Maribor lost 1-0 at Birmingham last season in the group stage last season of the Europa League. When Maribor won 3-0 at home against Panathinaikos on Match Day One, that was their first win in seven Europa League group matches, losing five and drawing one of their six group matches last season. Still, they are making a nuisance of themselves in the group and will no doubt just try and keep things as tight as possible and they’ll be happy to get out of White Hart Lane with a point to keep their own qualification hopes alive.
