Tottenham v Newcastle Betting Preview
The future has started to look a little brighter for Newcastle after back to back wins in the Premier League. They now travel to London to take on the high flying Spurs, who themselves are in powerful form and pushing hard for a place in next season’s Champions League. On the opening day of the season, the Magpies downed Spurs 2-1 at St James’ Park. Can they score an important double and pull themselves further clear of relegation worries?

Tottenham v Newcastle Recommended Bet:
Spurs are running very well at the moment, now on a nine match unbeaten stretch in the Premier League and having lost just one of their last thirteen. In the last nine, they have have ran up five wins and have kept five clean sheets as well. Spurs do have a worrying striker shortage at the moment, with Jermain Defoe having been ruled out for a few weeks. So that will cut the margin of victory down when backing Spurs. Spurs have managed just one goal per game in each of their last three Premier League matches, so they have dried up a little bit. Still, they are a form side and are unbeaten in their last six at White Hart Lane in the Premier League. Tottenham are averaging 1.5 goals per game at home this season (a worse strike rate than they have managed away from home), while they have conceded at exactly one goal per game. A quarter of their home matches have come with a clean sheet and nearly 60% of games at White Hart Lane have gone under 2.5 goals.

Spurs have been pretty much a second half team this season, with 74% of all their goals coming after the break. They have scored one first half goal in their last eleven Premier League matches now. Spurs have good recent history in the Premier League at home against Newcastle, winning the last three in a row without conceding a goal. With a confident Newcastle coming, this should be a good test again for Spurs and their top four credentials. If they drop points here then it will likely be because of their lack of firepower at the moment. Gareth Bale could be crucial for them. Alan Pardew, with a flurry of January signings, must finally be seeing some light at Newcastle. The Magpies have beaten Aston Villa and Chelsea in their last two outings, the first time they have secured back to back wins this season. Those wins came after a poor run of form with just one win in eight and having suffered six defeats in that period.

The recent win at Villa Park was the only triumph away from home this season for the Magpies. But they are unbeaten in their last two now. Overall, their goal scoring rate has been low this season, and they are averaging just 1.3 goals per game away from home and defensively you can see the issues they have had because they have conceded at a rate of over two per game. They have looked a much more confident and balanced side in their last two matches, that having been said though there are still defensive problems for them that they need to work on. They look better in midfield with Cabaye back and new arrival Moussa Sissoko blending right in. Could well earn themselves a point against the relatively low scoring Spurs. Newcastle have won just one of their last eleven visits to London though, losing eight.

Could still be worth edging Spurs with a narrow win. A Tottenham 1-0 Correct Score bet is offered at 8/1 with online bookmaker Bet Victor
