Premier League Betting

Tottenham v Stoke Betting Preview – Premier League 26th February 1.30pm

This is a good chance for Tottenham to put some pressure on both Man City and Arsenal in the race for a top three spot as both of those are out of action for the weekend. The Lilywhites smashed Stoke earlier in the season at the Bet365 Stadium and will be looking to complete the league double. But they had their long unbeaten streak snapped in their last league match against Liverpool and were dumped out of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night as well. Can the resilient Stoke grind something out of their trip to London?

Tottenham v Stoke Betting Tips

This is a good opportunity for Tottenham to claw their way into second place in the top flight on Sunday. With Arsenal and Man City taking the weekend off from league duties, the Lilywhites have the chance to put pressure on both in the race to catch Chelsea in the top four. Tottenham suffered a shock exit from the UEFA Europa League in midweek when they were held to a draw at Wembley against Gent. That extra outing probably won’t have too much of a bearing on their performance in his one, but Spurs did suffer a defeat in their last Premier League game which was at Anfield against Liverpool back on February 11th. That loss snapped a nine match unbeaten streak that they were on at the time and so now have to show a little character a produce a response. After each of their other two defeats in the league this season, Spurs did respond with a victory to nil. Tottenham to win to nil at SkyBet in this one is a price of 11/8.

The Lilywhites have picked up more clean sheets on home soil in the top flight this season than any other side have managed (eight). Tottenham have claimed 4-0 wins over Stoke in each of their last two against the Potters in the Premier League, but both of those scorelines cropped up at the Bet365 Stadium. Both Dele Alli and Harry Kane have netted three goals in their last two league games against Stoke and Kane is trading as 4/6 SkyBet anytime goalscorer favourite, with Alli at 11/10 so both are offering some value. Kane has scoring form at the moment with him having netted 10 goals in his last nine games for Spurs across domestic action in the Premier League and FA Cup. Under 2.5 goals at SkyBet for this Sunday fixture is a price of 23/20 and that could have appeal as Stoke don’t give up a lot defensively. Tottenham’s home form this season is W10 D2 L0 so they remain unbeaten and they are on a seven match winning streak at White Hart Lane in all competitions.

Stoke haven’t shipped more than one goal in any of their last six Premier League games and so they are likely to stick in there and give Spurs a difficult afternoon. That could lead you to consider a Draw/Tottenham half time/full time punt. Stoke have remained unbeaten from their last two trips at White Hart Lane as well (W1 D1) but never before have they gone three in a row there without defeat. Stoke haven’t enjoyed a lot of success on Premier league trips to London as they have won only one of their last 20 games in the capital, but that did come against Spurs. There hasn’t been a lot of output up top from them as they have managed exactly one goal in three of their last four games in the top flight (failing to score in the other one) and they have gone W3 D2 L1 in their last six home and away. Stoke are only W1 L4 in their last five away from the Bet365 Stadium without a clean sheet in that sequence and that is what makes them prone to defeat in this one.

Tottenham v Stoke Predictions

The Lilywhites have been going well enough on home form and they will be expected to strike out a win in this one. They hammered Stoke earlier in the season but they have won just one of their last four at home against the Potters, so it may be worth looking for the Lilywhites to just get over the win line by a one goal margin and that’s all. That will be based on the poor away form that Stoke have been producing lately.
