UK General Elections Odds – Politics Betting

Has Theresa May gambled unnecessarily?

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting

In France, we have a non-aligned populist candidate running for President against a far-right separatist who vows to halt immigration and take her country out of the EU.

In America, they voted in a President who would be a laughing stock were it not for the fact that he’s threatening to start World War III. In Britain, we had a prime minister who staked his reputation and job on the wisdom of the British people and was surprised when he didn’t get the result he wanted.

David Cameron’s successor, Theresa May, is now taking the UK back to the polls again to see if she can earn a mandate to argue for what she wants out of the Brexit talks. Some have called her a political opportunist but calling a General Election with chief opposition party to the Conservatives, Labour, apparently in turmoil is probably a shrewd bit of business and could see her in power for another five years with free rein and the majority to do whatever she wants.

Maybe some of the Conservatives’ most wealthy backers will see a big bet on the current best 1/16 as an opportunity to earn a bigger rate of interest than any investment in the city. Skybet is offering even more profitable returns on Ms May being prime minister after the General Election (1/12). But these are strange times and who’s to say whether the electorate will attach more importance to the state of the UK’s National Health service and education system than what happens around the negotiating tables of the EU.

If you fancy Labour to depose the current government, odds of 14/1 are available in the market to win Most Seats. Jeremy Corbyn is a best 17/2 to be the next prime minister with Liberal democrat leaders Tim Farron available at 66/1. General odds of 11/2 for a Hung Parliament could be interesting given the way no analyst has been able to accurately predict how many other polls and elections have turned out lately.
