Uruguay v Brazil Betting Preview – World Cup 2018 Qualifiers 23rd March – Kick Off 11.30pm

This is a clash between the top two in qualification for the World Cup 2018 from South America. Brazil are leading the way at the top of the pile, four points clear of Uruguay. The CONMEBOL zone is well over half way through their entire qualification process so we are getting to the meat of things. Uruguay can really lock in second place and take a massive step towards automatic qualification if they can take down the Selecao. That’s not an easy task though of course.

Uruguay v Brazil Betting Tips

This should be an interesting match up because Uruguay can really close in on an automatic qualification spot with a win in this one. They have produced cracking form at home in qualification so far, winning all six of their games and they took a clean sheet in five of those, conceding just the one goal in total in the sequence. It’s going to be hard to keep Brazil off the scoresheet though. There was a 2-2 draw between the two of them earlier in qualification in Brazil and that snapped a three match losing streak that Uruguay were on against the Selecao. Uruguay don’t have great head to home form against Brazil, as they are winless in their last eight against them with a D5 L3 record. Their last win over Brazil came at home over them in World Cup 2002 qualification. Uruguay have averaged two goals per game in qualification so far and all but one of the last five between these have gone over 2.5 goals. Over 2.5 goals at Bet365 is a 21/20 option which looks value therefore. Edinson Cavani is top scorer in the CONMEBOL qualification with eight goals and he is a 23/20 option in the anytime goalscorer market. Luis Suarez is suspended for this one.

Brazil have averaged over two goals per game in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification from their twelve matches, so you assume there will be value at 4/5 with bet365 on both teams to score. Brazil have suffered just the two defeats in their last fourteen games against Uruguay, so are pretty strong in the head to head. If they win this then they will take a giant step towards winning the group as they start this four points clear of second placed Uruguay. Neymar is on goalscoring form for the Selecao with eight goals in his last eight internationals and he has four in his last five World Cup qualifiers as well. Neymar is a 6/5 quote in the Bet365 anytime goalscorer market. Brazil have gone W3 D2 L1 from their six games out on the road in qualification, the defeat coming in Chile, who incidentally, took a home win over Uruguay in the last round of matches too. There are six qualification matches left for these two, including this one, so a draw wouldn’t be a terrible result for either. Uruguay move on to face Peru on the 28th, while Brazil face Paraguay at home which are much easier games for both.

Uruguay v Brazil Predictions

Uruguay home win. Tough game to call and it may be worth a flutter on Uruguay to sneak a home win in this one. That would be a fantastic result for them and going based on how powerful they have been on home soil, it may be worth backing them to snap their long winless streak against the Selecao. They are a due a win.
