West Brom v Southampton Betting Preview – Premier League 8th April 3.00pm

It doesn’t look like a game to get overly excited about really. Neither are running in particularly hot form right now and while both can offer up some decent resistance on their day, neither of them particularly look convinced enough going forward to win this one. It will all probably be very tight between these two at the Hawthorns, there have been just two goals in the last three meetings between them there.

West Brom v Southampton Betting Tips

The Baggies have been a good home side in the league this season and at the Hawthorns they have posted a decent W9 D2 L4 record. They have only lost one of their last six on home soil in the to flight (W4 D1) so could be value in this one. The Baggies recorded a 2-1 away win on their trip to Southampton earlier in the season and back at home, they have only ever shipped just the one goal in the Premier League against the Saints at the Hawthorns before and that was back in August 2013. West Brom to win to nil at Bet365 may have a little bit of appeal in this one and that is a price of 15/4. West Brom though have only picked up the one clean sheet in their last seven league appearances now. They did bank that great home win over Arsenal in their last league home fixture so have reason enough to be confident, despite losing at Watford in midweek. In the correct score market at West Brom 1-0 returns a price of 8/1. Overall this game just has the look of being a low scoring affair and the Baggies themselves have failed to score in five of their last seven league games against the Saints.

The last time that Southampton lost both games in a league season against West Brom was in the 2012/13 season, the only time that has happened before to them. Southampton picked up a home win over Crystal Palace in midweek, but they haven’t been in great form since the turn of the new year. They have only gone W2 L4 in their last six games away from home in the league. They just haven’t been able to hold their ground defensively away from home which is going to put them at risk in this one perhaps. In the anytime goalscorer market Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez are 2/1 option for the Saints, which is the same as there is on West Brom’s Salomon Rondon. Their midweek win may have given them a boost of confidence but they will know that they aren’t going to get an easy game from the Baggies by any stretch of the imagination and they may struggle to break down the home side.

West Brom v Southampton Predictions

West Brom Home Win: Not an inspiring game to look forward too, but the Baggies have been solid enough at home to go and edge their way past the Saints in this one. It probably won’t be anything bigger than a 1-0 win for them.
